While I don't think I've had bad food there really, I wouldn't think of it as a culinary destination at all.

Other than the uber yummy breakfast place I found there last summer. drool

yolk! drool

i do love the chicago diner, too, though i think i kinda burnt myself out on it the years i lived there.

i also miss cafe pick-me-up, partially because i liked the food, but mostly because i loved the feel of that place. very cozy and cavernous and grungy hipster.

hema's kitchen is still the best indian food i think i've ever eaten, though.

and that indian buffet joint on belmont near ann sather's is still the best rotgut indian food i've ever eaten. drool cloud9

on the other hand, leona's is the only place i've ever eaten where i've gotten food poisoning...TWICE. disbelief

I have to give props when props are due though:

We have great food here. Every big name artist plays here and I get to see at least 12 great shows a year.

And downtown Chicago at night still kicks my ass after 39 years. headbang

Like I said, I don't remember it being bad, I just don't remember it being all that memorable (clearly lol ) either.

Well I'm hearing things about Chitowm. It's not the big metropolitain city we think it is. SUpposedly Chicago is more like what you'd think Houston*Texas) is and Houston is more like what you'd think Chicago is.

It's in The Midwest awhere there's conservatives and hicks. From what I hear Chicago is a sleepy conservative town. Houston actually parties harder on the club scene and is mor elive. Famous people have said that about New York too. It had more clubs but a place like Dallas is more into and in the mode. And aat concerts every single performer tells us we're harder and rowdier than most other audiences(US). I talked to Thea Austin a world famoys House singer after a concert here at South Beach. I aksed her if we were as wild as New York...expected to be a little southern boy that had nothing on NY. She replied kinda of funny in a voice correcting me"You're wilder.". If we're more wild and rowdy than New York we for sure must beat Chicago.

Chicago? A conservative town? falloff

Okay?! Fluid, you do realize Chicago has had a Democratic mayor for, like, forever? And it was the first Mayor Daley that probably threw Illinois blue for Kennedy (by having people "vote early and often"). I wouldn't say it's as liberal as New York, but Illinois always goes blue because of Chicago.

When I was there,I stayed in a suburb known as Tinley Park which is right outside Chicago.I remember thinking it would be a nice place to live.I always think it's cool to live just right outside of a major city.

i just remember opening the back door at my apartment one night to take out the trash, and there was a damn raccoon as big as a damn child standing on its hind legs staring at me like i had some damn nerve invading its privacy.

so of course, i screamed like a little girl, slammed the door and hid in my bed for the night. lol

I've seen large raccoons before.Once while I was driving,I almost ran over one! It darted into the street so fast.If I hadn't slammed on the brakes, that thing would have been roadkill! Raccoons are funny to me....they have a weird walk.

Texas is the same way. Houston,Dallas,Austin, and San Antonio are battlegrounds. Usually democrats and republicans are close to neck and neck. The republicans usually have 55% and dems 45%. But Austin is a liberal city and democrats have the short lead. Well since Bush screwed up this time and Obama is convincing, all the cities in Texas went Blue. Even people in Texas are pissed at The Bush Administration. They described Housotn as a blue island in a red state. Even though republicans lost the cities by a small margin they one the state cause the rural hillbillies always wote republican. SO it tipped the ballance even though Obana won the biggest cities Texas is still a red state by a fairly small margin.
