IPOD - HELP!

Just upgraded to 120 Gig cuz I pulled a retard and lost my other one rolleyes

anyway, I'm trying to install Itunes because I get the message that I can't connect my ipod because I get the following message:

The ipod "IPOD" cannot be used because it requires ITunes version 8.0 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of Itunes.

so I go there and do the download and it goes all the way through and at the end I get the following and it doesn't completely install:

Invalid Drive:F:\

There is no drive "F" neutral neutral neutral neutral

How the hell do I deal with this. I had my other one for nearly a year and still I have no idea how to really use it lol

SOME

I.

don't.

know!

lol I went to Itunes and put the exe for itunesetup directly onto my ipod drive so it could run from there. I'm going to try and install the itunes 8 on the computer again and see what happens. Whe I'm installing the new verion of itunes, is it only installing to the computer drive or the ipod drive or both?

babygirl sent me the following:

Its a registry problem. Of course you didnt know what you were doing and messed it up. Well this is the answer.

Start-run- regedit

Once your registry editor appears click edit and then search. type in f:\ make sure to only select the box that says data.. To make it easy for you and for me to explain delete everything that it finds. You are only really looking for something that looks like f:\.. with c:\ somewhere in the string but just delete anthing that it finds. then click find next and delete that ect. till it finds nothing else. After that restart your computer and waaalllaa.. Good luck.

when I click on Start, I have no idea how to access "run" function. It's not there neutral neutral neutral

I feel like I'm becoming 65 because I'm totall losing my edge on technology. Always used to intuitively know what to do and now I feel like my mom trying to rewind a DVD! lol

Be sure to reset your Ipod as well (by pressing the center wheel and play at the same time).

Mine is plugged in with the "do not disconnect" message - but it is not charging and I can't shut it off and iTunes does not see it.

I think you can reset it connected or not.. Xlrbr???

In itunes when the device is plugged in go to the left where it states the icon regarding the device is on. That page will have synch/reset/cont button option on main page. I believe you press the "next cont" section and it will continue. I remember vageuly having the same issue when I got my 120 classic a few months ago.

reboot instructions: Toggle the Hold switch to Hold and then back off again, and then hold down Menu and Select (the center button) for six to ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

I found this and I see when I enter the search for F, it's actually looking for my external harddrive because that is the last place I saved itunes to. When I delete the "f" items, it says "value not set" so I think that is't not really deleteing the file, just the location. Can anyone confirm this because I'm afraid to delete those files if I'm really deleting them! lol

Do not delete anything. Call the 800 number. They will reboot you and "register" you. What probably happened is that your itunes does not recognize your new device. The powers that be will talk you through on how to have your new ipod registered so it is recognized by your itunes loaded on your computer.

the "f" drive is my external hd which I don't have. that is the last place I saved an update to on the computer I'm on. But it doesn't give me a choice to select another location to install to.
