X-Files

How many of you are fans of this show? I am a complete addict and have been for about 5 years. It never ceases to amaze me and I continue to learn a great deal by watching it. I think it's one of the most original and intelligent shows ever created. In my opinion, it's the best written, acted, directed and filmed show on cable today. I haven't seen many of the HBO shows like Sex and the City or Sopranos but I feel that The X-Files raised the bar for the hour long television drama genre. It's the first of its kind to have the budget, scope and vision to take on a cinematic scale every week. I love the balance of reality and fantasy and the interplay between main characters. Mulder being the intuitive believer and Scully as the skeptical scientist makes for perfect chemistry. And the overlapping paranormal/spiritual themes are a real turn on for me personally. Not to mention the fact that Gillian Anderson is the most beautiful woman alive! love

I was very saddened to see this show end. At first when they announced Mulder and Scully's exit from the show, I thought they should end it immediately. But then as the show went on, the new characters were really starting to come into their own. I would've loved to see the series rounded off with a tenth season. But they have promised at least another movie in the future that they're set to begin filming next year. Anyone else feeling this show?

Recently, The X-Files was dropped by the FX network which was a perfect home for it. But it's been picked up by The Sci-Fi channel and TNT. And it continues to run on Fox. Right now there's a Freak Night Marathon on- CHECK IT OUT!!!

I love(d) the show and I want to get back into it, but it seems like I'm always on the phone when it's on. Or I forget and only catch them halfway through. I won't watch them like that, because sometimes it's too hard to figure out what's going on when you miss the first half.

But I'm trying! My boyfriend really loves the show too, btw.

You are officially the coolest person on this site. I can't wait to get Season 6. I plan on picking it up on the first day. I think the show just kept getting better from Season 4 through 7. I just started buying the DVD's and only have 1 and 5. I want them all now!

Je ve juex! (horrible spelling, I'm sure!)

You really got me into this show, bro! All Souls, Bad Blood and the Great Mutato are great episodes! Scully is hella cool as is Mulder. It's hard to pick a favorite. My favorite part of the entire show is Scully's Irish Jig.

Yup, you're right. Horrible spelling. lol

Je veux jouer. I want to play!

I can't believe they named an episode Chinga knowing full well that it means "fuck".

I'm glad that you like it better than you used to. It is a pretty serious and involved show but once you understand the characters and the style, it's easy to get hooked. I loved watching the finale in Salt Lake City. cry biggrin

What a memory that was! "Chinga" is HILARIOUS! You'll need to teach me some more French. I knew there was an X in there somewhere...wink

That's cool that you remember so many episode titles by the way. I'm still learning many of them myself.

I love how the sexual tension between them takes EIGHT SEASONS to brew...it makes the kiss at the end of the last episode of Season 8 that much more powerful and meaningful. A lot of thought went into this series. Mulder and Scully are cultural icons and are fully developed characters. I wonder if Gillian and David will ever be able to be known as anything else but "Scully and Mulder." I'll never think of them as anyone else, like I'll never think of Danica McKellar as anyone but Winnie Cooper. love

That's cool that you picked that out. The show's creator Chris Carter said they made a very conscious effort to make their relationship what it was. I'll have to dig out the quote but it's very cool. Something about how they represent the ideal in human friendship. And I bet it will be hard to think of them as other roles. They've both said that if they never work again it wouldn't matter cuz they're so proud of the body of work they created with the X-Files. But they're both so talented that I'm sure they'll continue to grow in their work.

That is true. But this show is so legendary that it will be hard for me to see them as people who aren't Scully and Mulder. They just fill those roles so perfectly.

True. Only time will tell. David Duchovny has already had several successful movie roles and Gillian Anderson is currently starring in a London play. She was also in "The House of Mirth" which got universally good reviews. It was great getting my marathon on. I watched 7 full episodes tonight!

I keep hearing great things about this show. They've got the DVD at Sam's Club for $40. Is this a good price?

And by the way, there's another X-Files marathon on right now! Check it out on TNT and Sci-Fi.

NO WAY! The Chupacabra episode is on right now. It's called El Mundo Gira.

They just mentioned Purple Rain. Mulder said, "great album, deeply flawed movie."
