Nadya Suleman, whose decision to give birth to the octuplets after undergoing fertility treatment despite already having six children, was expected to return home later this week, Michael Furtney told AFP. Suleman has been staying at an undisclosed location -- reportedly a hotel -- after leaving hospital following advice from security advisors, Furtney said. "We agreed that while many of the threats were not serious, they were certainly serious enough that he suggested that we took the precaution of being in a place that was safe and secure," Furtney told AFP. "I believe now she?s getting ready to go home. I?m not 100 percent certain of the timing but it?s likely to be in the next day or two." Furtney said Suleman had received a "mix" of positive and negative messages following the octuplets' birth. "In the last day or so there has been I think an increase in the numbers of positive ones which is heartening," he said. Suleman has set up a website -- www.thenadyasulemanfamily.com -- where wellwishers can post messages or make a donation. "There have been many calls and offers," Furtney said. "One woman even offered to send breast milk. A farm family in the midwest offered to have Nadya and her children come live them. There's been an amazing variety." Suleman's case has triggered condemnation, with her mother criticizing her daughter's decision to have the children as "unconscionable" while fertility experts slammed the Beverly Hills clinic which carried out her treatment. The Medical Board of California is investigating the case. Under guidelines issued by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), a woman Suleman's age should have no more than two embryos implanted. Experts say multiple-birth babies are often born prematurely -- Suleman's octuplets were born nine-and-a-half weeks early -- which puts them at significantly greater risk of long-term health problems. Isnt she lovely Isnt she wonderful... *Goes running from the thread!*

".....it turns out that Nadya Suleman's father is Iraqi and her mother is Ukrainian. She was thought to be Hispanic due to keeping her ex-husband's last name after the divorce (he was Hispanic; her former last name was Gutierrez). So the Los Angeles paranoia over her being some kind of Latin "illegal" is, sadly, unsurprisingly, ignorant"

She was raised in La Puente, Hacienda Heights and Rowland Heights, all cities in Los Angeles County. She is the only child of Edward and Angela Suleman, who married in Las Vegas in 1974 and divorced in 1999.

I can understand why people are so passionate about this..but death threats? thats deplorable, I just dont understand that.
This story certainly has brought out the worst in some people. Those children are innocent, they shouldn't pay for having an irresponsible or mentally ill parent. People who have dontated have probably been made to feel thet they are condoning the mothers behaviour when in fact they are only concerned about the children. I wont be donating but I certainly wouldnt comdemn anyone who does. I too think the kids should go to loving homes and have the chance of a normal secure childhood.

Shorty said: people get so pissed at her and stories like this because of HER utter lack of concern for her own damn children. This whole "stunt" was calculated by her...she may have a mental illness...but mental illness is also an extremely easy excuse to use. The doctor that did this should have to pay for the up keep on these kids. Octomom's own mother and father were/are against it. Those poor folx are the ones raising her first litter...3 of which are special needs. She's pathetic.
Amen... say that! That women planned for this outcome, yet didn't think of her own children's welfare. Mentally ill? No!.... I just think she's incredibly selfish.

CPS will no doubt step in when it's TOO late and God-forbid one of them is injured or killed due to her neglect. Then everybody will be saying they shoulda took them earlier. I don't really think there is anything sad about splitting up infants. Older kids, yes...but not new borns. I do if those infants date their siblings when they get older.

Older kids, yes...but not new borns. i've heard of plenty of stories of grown children/adults wishing they hadn't grown up apart from their siblings It's the reason I never told the police what happened in our home whenever they came in the middle of the night. They'd separate me and my sister and there was no way I was going to let that happen. However, I agree with Erin on the babies vs. older children being separated... provided that they are granted FULL access to info on the adoption/foster care and their siblings/biological parents at the very moment they want it, and not just when they hit 18 or whatever.

I will be paying my "donation" (via state taxes) for years. My hope is that these kinds of procedures become out of plan for state medical reimbursement as a result. I mean, I have a severe disability. I can't get California to give me an operation to help my hip... I will have to pay for that one...
but, they will pay for me to have fertility treatments??? I look forward to the legislation on this. My best to the children that are already here.
