WOOHOO: Finally got to 1,000

posts.

Just 11 more to go after this and I can't find anything interesting to post on in all the forums (or is that fora?).

Anybody, somebody, start an interesting convo so I can reach that monumental millennial marker.

Please smile

Do you put your toilet paper so that it rolls from on top or underneath?

damn i was beginning to say phuck yall muthaphuckas cuz I know you see me. I know you see my desperate attempts to reach the ranks of the elite. and none of yall aint posting shit.

and then comes along Azure to rescue the day smile she ain't post shit but did post something on toilet paper.

i put the toilet paper and paper towels so that they roll from the top... it makes it easier to tear them without unrolling the whole roll. smile

woot! now only 10 more to go!

What are your favorite aspects of teaching? I know that I personally love the interaction that I get from my students. Perhaps I have a good class- they are very participative and come prepared. Teaching is the highlight of my day!

I love sitting in a classroom full of bright students who are excited by the subject matter, have done their reading, and are ready to go toe to toe with me and their peers in class discussions. Those are the students that shine.

Some of the best debates in class...

Booker T v. W.E.B. and MLK v. Malcolm (tried and true, but still always exciting)

Race v. Gender - prioritizing the fight against oppression, is it possible? is it fair to ask people (usually women and other minority minority groups) to choose which they're loyal to first?

Is Lil Kim a feminist -- that one got me so mad I couldn't even contain my emotions... dude was arguing that Kim was a feminist hero and I just wasn't tryin to let him put her in the same category as Angela Davis, Joanne Robinson, Ella Baker, Fannie Lou, Ida B... gotta give him props tho cuz he held up well under the weight

Was Tupac this generation's Malcolm mad Blasphemy! And I came right out and said it. Pretty much shut the conversation down. And I felt bad afterwards and apologized to the student who by then was so afraid she retreated from her position. I felt really bad after that.

In a math setting, there really isn't much room for debate, but I can see your point! I absolutely adore the feeling I get when I know that I have just given an effective, clear lecture. Today was a good one! It is just really invigorating.

One was "Introduction to African-American Studies" and the other was a seminar on Malcolm X.

I'll probably get slammed by that po' chile I shut down when she writes her course evaluation. The whole class seems to think I'm thorough but some of 'em think I bring that STANKNESS smile

And it's only because I don't let them get away with foolishness. I will call muffukkas out to see if they have done their reading... and you will get embarrassed if you are not prepared. nod

No free rides in my class. They are enjoying one of the most privileged educations in the country and I don't want them to take anything for granted.

This one kid... privileged frat boy... reported me to the dept. head and asked that his grade be reviewed. The dept head reviewed it and recommended a LOWER grade. evillol Dude came back to me all apologetic and I was like, "Mhm hmm" disbelief

EDIT: And this would be my 1,000th post!!!!

yay! yay! yay! yay! yay!

woot! woot! woot! woot! woot!

Thnx Azure, Supernova, Moonbeam, Bad, 4Love
