Travel By Train I'm having a significant birthday this year and was thinking of taking a trip by train to somewhere fabulous. I've taken the train many times and love it but this will be about a 10 day trip. I'm in Michigan and am considering New Mexico or possibly South Carolina or New Orleans. A client of mine did an Oakland to Chicago trip with his family and he said it was the greatest experience he'd ever had. Maybe you could do the reverse?

I've taken this route several times from Oakland-Denver. The Colorado Rockies portion is fantastic, especially going through the Ruby Canyon on the Eastern side. It also goes over Donner pass which is cool. | |
