I rarely go out to SF, but I know some spots

for music, you NEED...and I mean NEED to check out Rasputin Music on Powell St. and Amoeba on Haight. While you on Haight, check out some of the clothing stores like True, Kidrobot, Upper Playground, and The Hundreds

I don't know about gay clubs lol but clubs in general, check out Milk, Whisper, Club X.....Thursday through Saturday is clubmania lol

you know, there IS a place called City Nights...I don't know if it's still open, but I think they had a gay night

What are some hot spots to go to? "hot spots"? depends on your interests. I would suggest the theatre esp tixbayarea @ Union Sq. for some discounts... Depends on when you are going

best gay clubs? oh, that varies based on your age and interests... really outside of the castro, i'd suggest the Stud its just an institution.

best Asian food? OK,I must confess, the more authentic the Asian Food, the more I am afraid of it...

shake shake shake If you are like me, maybe the Mandarin at Fisherman's Warf.. (I know, touristy and $$) but, the view of the Bay at sunset is a real plus and the ingredients are good quality.

Good moderate motels at all? I know this sounds bad but I use those discount sites like hotwire and/or priceline. values are good. I suggest proximity to a BART station (NOT Civic Center)...

Let me know!

Just don't stay at a hotel that is in SOMA or the Tenderloin, or near Fisherman's Wharf. There's alot to do in my fine city. There are places like Museum of the African Diaspora, Cartoon Art Museum and Jewish Museum. Take a gander through Golden Gate Park and check out the newly opened or reopened California Academy of Science and the DeYoung. Take a walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. Take the ferry to Alcatraz. Oh yeah and I vouch for Amoeba. It's a can't miss.
Go to the corner of Castro and Market St, and I'm sure somebody could tell you the gay hangout spots.

I don't know about hotels in the city but I know about clubs. You might like THE CAFE, THE BAR on Castro, The Stud or The Endup.

Orgnote me and maybe I can take a day to show you around.

Isaiah, if you have the time and someone with a car, you should set out one early morning to drive up through wine country. Maybe your destination could be a brunch date in Calistoga.

The route from San Fran up through the Napa Valley will be absolutely beautiful -- misty rolling hills, aging farm houses, lush spring foliage and fields of grape vines and orchards as far as the eye can see. Pack some Sade or something to chill out to on the way up. nod
