First of all there are 103 other names listed that were positive, but like anything else, its about selling a story and newspapers, and the name Alex Rodriguez and Barry Bonds on this list is more sexy than the fact that "Randy Velarde" is on the list, so the double standard is all over this. And its not just baseball, football is FULL of users and still to this day.

The point is that after the strike in 1994, all bets were off, Baseball was DIEING, but rather than look within and mend, it looked for a quick heal, a STIMULUS package of its own. And what better way than the most exciting thing in Baseball, the Homerun! So all of a sudden you had guys that hit maybe 5-10 a year hitting 35 a year, and no one saying shit, all i ever heard was talk of a "livelier baseball" and "different lighter bats", but everyone KNEW, this goes for everyone from the Agents, the players and most of all the owners and unions, which didnt care about anything but ratings and putting asses in seats, and thats what EVERY SINGLE thing in life is about, RATINGS, and getting more people to watch. So i could care less about who did it, and who admits it, it doesnt matter, the real victim is the guy that had a natural career from beginning to end that gets lost in the shuffle of the tainted era.
