I feel very happy everyone is here, having a few drinks and pizza. Is it the fact ur family is safe making u happy or the few drinks seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before

my brother in law had breakfast with some of the firefighters this morning, and they told him a guy with a thresher (for cutting grass) was operating yesterday and that started the fire with sparks. On days of total fire ban, like it was yesterday, he shouldn't have been doing that. The irony is that he was cutting the grass (which is really just straw) to lessen the risk of a fire.

Hello fellow Aussie orgers!
This fire thingy is far from over. We haven't really hit the traditional fire season yet. Not that that means anything any more! I live about 3 suburbs south of a contained fire front. No real danger, but it does make you a little nervous. A friend of mine in the Dandenongs has been spending a few nights back @ his parents place. So it must be bad!!

So it must be bad!! ur right about that!!! i remember yrs ago when i was a school(a life time ) it would be hot til school went back (mid feb here) then it would start to settle down. now weather can be hot up til May we had a fire on the eastern shore of hobart 2 yrs ago in october- http://flickr.com/photos/.../267746122 my mums house had soot in the yard. i left work early coz my house backed onto the hwy across from the fire path, and vegetation over fence was pretty bad. they actually closed the hwy (main access to airport) so emergency vehicles could get thru quicker- very eerie. luckily no lives were lost (or property that i can remember). that freaked me out enough, i cant begin to imagine what ppl are going thru on the mainland Stay safe Vic and SA orgers and their families, friends and pets seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before

I think a lot of people will be re-thinking their 'Tree change'.
No doubt it's beautiful, but is it worth this kind of stress for 3-4 months of the year? A lot of people selling up I reckon. Getting insurance from here on in is going to be difficult and expensive.
