Australian Open

Anywone keeping up with it?

I am listening to the Federer match right now! lol Roddick won. I saw that match last night--well the end of it.

Oooooo I hope Rafa Nadal does well.

I also really like the Williams sisters. I know Serena is playing, but I am not sure about Venus.

Ooo I like Andy Murray, too! (My favorite is Rafa, but I like Andy.)

The only player right now that bugs me is that Djovoric.. what is his name?

I try to like him, but there is something about him that bugs me. lol He is either #3 or #4 in the world?

Hope he don't choke, like the US Open final. It's a bit of a Scottish tradition to fuck it up at the last hurdle.

Roger is about to win his opening round match!

I also admire him, too, of course.

I was thinkin about Australia the other day. It's so over the horizon.

Co-sign. I hope he grinds Federer's ass into the scorching hot ground in the final - that man needs as much humiliation as possible.

It was 37 C in Melbourne yesterday omfg A female player said "My feet burning up was a problem - the court was that hot under my feet." In that perspective I'd rather have the -15 we've had a few times this winter. At least it's possible to dress against the cold.

Dementieva is playing well, I hope she wins. And it will be interesting to see if Murray can beat Fed at a slam. When Federer is on he is incredible.

I'm rooting for Federer and Venus. Serena is my back-up pick for the women.

Rafa was great in his opening round match!

Feds was great in his second round match, too!

The top four were great.

Serena was great! I think Venus won, too?

James Blake won. Now Andy Roddick, I am not sure if he won his second round match?

Safin lost.

Jelena Dokic has done so well considering what she's had to go through, I haven't wanted someone to win so much in ages, Go Jelena! She has a really good chance to get to the quarters, just an unbelievable achievement for someone who hasn't played for about 3 years.

As for the men, it's a real toss up who's gonna take it but Rafa is looking tough.

Yeah, and now we have to watch elephant Serena thundering about the court instead. I hope the chairs in the stands are fastened properly and that the tsunami warning system is online.

I usually go for underdogs and also-rans, but Federer's my guy: I really hope he can get back to his pre-'08 level because when he's at the top of his game he's an absolute joy to watch. His '07 dismantling of Roddick at the '07 Australian Open still gets a fair amount of replay with me.

I got up early to watch Rafa's match v Haas today! But they showed more Gonzo v Gasquet! Gonzo somehow won! I love Gonzo, too. I was amazing because he came back from 2 sets down.

Rafa won pretty easily against Haas. I was all ready for a long match, but Rafa did played pretty well, apparently. (I do not know much about whether he played well or not.) He did not have many unforced errors, the commentators were saying.

But now he meets Gonzo, and Gonzo has beaten him before, there--I think? This is what the commentators were saying.

It should be a great match!

Oh.. yes, I heard Venus lost. I could not believe it. Serena won that.

Also, that very pretty--well everyone thinks she is very pretty--Ivanavic(??) lost. I did not see the match.

I think Serena seems to be playing well.

Oh.. Andy Murray won. It seems like the top four moved-on. I think this Australian Open is going to be very competitive for the men if they all stay on-course. Rafa is going to have his hands full against Gonzo though--well just by judging Gonzo's match against Gasquet.

James Blake and Andy Roddick won! I thought James Blake played well. And I love Monfils, too. He has been playing well..

Yes! Did you hear about some sort of fight in the food area? I was not a food fight.. but a real fight?

They were talking about it this AM, but I missed the details Do you know what happened? I caught a little bit that Djokovic said something not so politically correct, or I may have misunderstood.

Oh my goodness. I looked it up, and it was during Djokovic's match against a former Bosnian? eek And then I was reading last year, there was vilence during Gonzo's match against a Greek opponent. This reminds me of the "passion" of soccer! eek

This is too out of control The security was quoted as saying their focus is protecting the players, but I think it might be a good idea to have more security to monitor/control the fans.

I don't know who's to blame, so I'm going to blame the Australians.

Which of the "top four" do you support in the Champs League? Arsenal? As an Englishman, you'll get behind an English team, no?

wink
