Shit--..talk about tv going from one extreme to the other---I liked Cosby , loved it daerly, Good Times made me laugh too etc. I cant pick oneover the other even though Good Times was a travesty in some aspects. Good Times was part of my youth though. It always made me a bit uncomfy sometimes, seeing people so bad off after all the othe r sitcoms living in semi luxury. But Wilona! And those songs!

I could never pick between these two shows. I grew up watching Good Times. I grew older watching The Cosby Show.

Both very realistic in portraying the type of environment in which each family lived. Both loaded with talented people. Both timeless in it's intent.

I only wish they would bring back Good Times to network TV so I could watch it all over again.

Thanks for the post!

Wilona ROCKED! (Did you know she performed 'The Jefferson's' theme song?)

Good Times.
Any time you meet a payment.
Good Times.
Any time you need a friend.
Good Times.
Any time you're out from under.

Not getting hastled, not getting hustled.
Keepin' your head above water,
Making a wave when you can.

Temporary lay offs.
Good Times.
Easy credit rip offs.
Good Times.
Scratchin' and surviving.
Good Times.
Hangin in a chow line
Good Times.
Ain't we lucky we got 'em
Good Times.

(here's the closing theme)
Just lookin' out of the window
Watchin' the asphalt grow
Thinkin' how it all looks hand-me-down
Good Times
Keepin' your head above water
Makin' a wave when you can
Temporary lay-offs
Good Times
Easy Credit rip-offs
Good Times
Aint we lucky we got 'em
Good Times

I LOVED those ladies! Such strong female role models and on top of it they were total babes! Wilona took little Penny in with no help and raised her on her own. smile

I give the edge to Good Times by an inch. John Amos (James Evans) didn't take no mess, I think his character reminded a lot of people of their own fathers. LAWD!!!, Bernadette Stanis is still fine...HAVE MERCY!!!

Bookman: What happened to Buffalo-Butt?
Willona: Yo' butt and yo' brain's in the same place!
Bookman: Last night I didn't get any sleep. I tossed and turned all night!
Willona: Yeah. I know. The whole building was rumblin'.

Out of those two, i think we only got 'The Cosby show' in England and i used to enjoy it when i was a teen, but it gradually declined in quality and the last few seasons blew! looking back it was too sacharrine sweet, cosy and vomit inducing.

Thank Groening for the Simpsons partly being responsible for killing it off.
