Question about younger friends...

Does anyone here know people (friends, acquaintances, etc.) where you like them but you want to just slap them for thoughtless or dumb behavior?

Yes. Many. In the last 6 months I've found myself in both my work and personal life, surrounded by a large number of people who are about 8 years younger than me.

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't want to shake the shit out of them and tell them to act right.

Becoming older often mean people get more cranky and conveniently forget how dumb they were themselves at that age.

Just have another coffee and stop paying attention to others so much.

Which is why I try my hardest not to call them stupid or anything like that. Most times I jus giggle and shake my head rememberin when I use to do certain things then I tell them "I hope u grow out of it".

Yes, I have some friends that are younger that do stupid things. I have to remind myself a lot that their behavior is something they will probably grow out of, just as I did but it's still really hard not to lecture them. Drinking and driving is a big one that I find really, really hard to keep my mouth shut on. My younger friends don't like drinking with me because I'm so anti drinking and driving. And I admit, it hurts my feelings that people think I'm lame because I don't want anyone to get hurt.

I also have a friend that's a year older than me that does some pretty boneheaded things which is a reminder that wisdom doesn't always come with age. shrug

For real!!!

I have 30+ friends who sometimes need a dose of comon sense, and I'd break it down to them regardless of how they feel about it.

there ya go. With one in particular (which prompted this thread), I basically chalk it up to him being "young, dumb, and full o'you-know-what", but I also want to exercise patience. I guess the hormones don't settle down as early as previously thought.

I have a friend who has started lying about his age so he can still hangout with younger friends. He looks far more foolish than they do.

I just turned 42....and in my last platoon, the average age of my troops (45 strong) was 23 years old (give or take 6 months either way)....there were times that slapping them would've done nothing more than hurt my hand....abso-fucking-lutely clueless...

I agree....but I also agree with Huey. I was an idiot at the ages of younger folk I work with.

What drives me nuts is everyone I work with is 26, married, with kids. I'm 32, unmarried, shacking up, and no kids and these little heifers are always pumping me, "why don't I want kids?" My retort is always "why don't you want to go to college and develop a career?" Then they shut up.

I love my younger friends. They make me feel....younger. They're all imaginary, too. They only come around when I chew 'shroomz. Anybody got some to spare? Orgnote a motherfucker, if so.

I only have a handful of friends, aged from about 20 to 35. I'd only slap them if they asked me to. smile

Oh my God. Where do you want me to start.

I've had a huge crush on this friend of mine forever. He's sooooo irresponsible but he's the sweetest, funniest guy I know.

I just want to shake him sometimes!

Oh yeah....he's like 10 years younger than I am.

Absolutely. I got a new group of friends over the summer and a few of them are teens and early 20's and I hear some of the things they say and I just want to hit them over the head so bad. With that said, they are good guys and even with their quirks, I like hanging with them and they dig me too so the pros outweigh the cons. smile

I'm 25, and one of my best friends is only 20. We both go to school together. He was in a situation in which he had to grow up fast, and you'd think that would show. I love him to death, but he acts like a kid sometimes. I think he's going through his second childhood phase, which I can totally relate to, but other times I'm like "Will this motherfucker grow up already?" He does shit that 12 year olds do. He come in my dorm and yell "PENIS!!" in front of me and my roommates, he tells me how he masterbates in the showers, when we have meetings he throws things, all that dumb kid shit. But oh well...
