I used to have the first few opening bars of 'Hello' on my machine.. Some people are like Slinkies...
They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

My Dad would just laugh at me My Mom doesn't even know who I am Ditto... When I had the theme from the X-Files on my voicemail, my dad was like, "WTH? I thought I'd called some weirdo Trekkie." He doesn't know the difference. My mom hasn't called for 15 years, but if she does ever call my cell, I have the theme from The Exorcist as my ringtone. She'll hang up with the quickness. I wanted the first part of "Let's go crazy" to play right before I walked down to isle. I wanted him to introduce the greatest entrance of my life -just imagine the voice saying "Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here to get through this thing called life"... It was just too much thought for me at the time and I decided to leave it out b/c my singer's voice was just too deep and he doesn't sing any Prince songs b/c of it...he was an apollo winner a few years back. I was supposed to walk down to Adore but opted to put that song at the reception as we cut our cake. I was crying when we cut it though. Um... let me warm up my vocals

Funny but true story:
Back when the "Diamonds and Pearls" CD first came out, I had the following on my answering machine (from the song "Daddy Pop"): (Ring di di ding) comebody's calling "The jester's on the phone!" Oh yeah? Rosie tell him I ain't home He just one in a long line that wanna see me! Daddy Pop My mom called me once, and hung up as soon as she heard the message. When I called her back, she asked me what the heck it was that was on my answering machine. I told her, "That's Prince". My mom said something like, "Well, I don't like it, it sounds ridiculous". Leave it to your mom to tell it exactly like it is, whether you want to hear it or not. I've always thought that the beginning part of the song "Hello" would be cool to put on your answering machine. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

A couple yrs back on my cell's voicemail I had "Hey, this is Tiff and I know because I didn't answer my phone you're thinking oooOOOooooh" The ooOOoooh would play from the begining of Musicology and it sounded so hot because it came in perfectly. My sister said once she heard the oooooh part she thought to herself "Oh snap, Tiff sounds JUST LIKE Prince!" surviving on the thought of loving you, it's just like the water
I ain't felt this way in years...

you must not have work or professionals calling the house, cell, etc. for interviews, sales calls, or anything related to work.
I always found that a turn off when calling intern candidates and it was something like that; a song, goofy greeting, etc. There have been waaaay worse. But those interns didn't get a message from me. I hung up and moved on. Obviously they weren't ready for the professional world. And the ring tones. I keep them to a jazzy instrumental. Pop that coochie would not be a good choice. wow...i gotta lay off the coffee.
