Costochondritis

Definition
Costochondritis is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects a rib to the breastbone (sternum). It causes sharp pain in the costosternal joint — where your ribs and breastbone are joined by rubbery cartilage. Pain caused by costochondritis may mimic that of a heart attack or other heart conditions.

Your doctor might refer to costochondritis by other names, including chest wall pain, costosternal syndrome and costosternal chondrodynia. When the pain of costochondritis is accompanied by swelling, it's referred to as Tietze syndrome.

Most cases of costochondritis have no apparent cause. In these cases, treatment focuses on easing your pain while you wait for costochondritis to resolve on its own.

I had to do a double take at the title because I thought she was allergic to Costco...

she has been in some discomfort and it really bothers her at night and she can't rest well - so she LOOKS exausted too

maybe now she can get better rest with the anti inflamatory and just "knowing" she is ok

Glad she'll be OK. Too bad that will cut into her dancing and such in the meantime though.

i can 'crack' my sternum like one would 'crack' their knuckles.
is that normal. onece in while it will kind of hurt or feel uncomfortable, and if i push my shoulders back it will pop.

Poor kiddo - hope she's feeling better soon. But, thank goodness it's something non-heart related and that it will resolve on its own! That's great news!
