Talent

What do you think, is talent something you are born with or do you think a person can become talented through hard work and determination if they know the basics? Or should I say, where does talent come from?

Some are born with talent, but it takes practice in order for that talent to be fully realized.

Born with it.I'm good at drawing and painting, as was my mother and in turn my mother's father was too.

but you can become good with practise, that goes for everything not just art.

Heavenly

I believe you're born with it, but unless you find it and develope it, that talent won't do much good.

I used to think it was something your born with before I became a teacher. Ive seen even the most musically challenged tap out a good beat after a few lessons.

It depends how badly you want it, which affects how hard you work for it. I know that God given talent isnt about possession. Its about hard work & cultivation of the talent.

I always think of it being like when someone gives you a present that your not really happy with. You know the giver of the gift would be offended if they knew you didnt like it. Thats why talent is constantly evolving, to say thankyou for God's gift, we must use it to the fullest.

hmm... although your students may have improved, but do you believe that if they continue to work hard, they can one day be considered very, very talented?
What about vocals? Obviously, some ladies have 3 octaves, 4 and even 5 octaves in their voices. After speaking to one of them, whose octave range is 4, she said that vocal lessons just expand only by a few notes. If I wanted to be a singer or at least be condiered damn talented, how would I get my voice to have that excellent range that is condiered amazing?!

EXACTLY what I was thinking of. I think creativity holds more weight than talent, so I'd rather be known as an artist than a craftsman.
