OUCH. heating pads sometimes help.... same here..my neighbor lady once gave me a good sized glass jar and told me to put hot water in it and lay down with it on my chest until the water got cold...the world's strangest hot water bottle... but it worked the best... Costochondritis is actually pretty common. I used to see lots of patients, in my former clinic, who were diagnosed with this. It's kinda a "blanket" term. It should resolve on it's own, but she can use some aspirin or other anti-inflammatory pain meds. I would also suggest do some gentle Pectoralis stretches. This could really do wonders. It's a simple stretch in the doorway. I perform this whenever I have chest pain and I feel tight.
Hope she feels better soon! Smooches;)

I have this too (I'm one of those adult cases). I know it hurts like hell but my way of getting rid of the pain is to do something that does require much physical movement but can get my heart beating faster. Works every time. 'A pillow covered in all our tears'
