There's a saying in Swedish, I don't know if there's a correlating one in English: "One misfortune rarely comes alone". It's too true, I had a couple myself yesterday but nothing like yours. My thoughts are with all of your family but especially Erin at this difficult time.

Chris, you're the greatest.

Auntie Breeda was everyone's second mom. Her kitchen was always the best place to be. A big pot of spaghetti sauce, or kale soup, or chicken curry would be bubbling on the stove, and there was always some freshly-baked goodie. She would always yell at us for "eatin' up all my fuckin' food!" but in reality she loved it.

She taught me how to swear and taught my daughters to swim. She taught me to be a tough broad by example, and taught me to know when to stop drinking by her inability to do so. She was a true Irish woman and so proud of where she came from. she was named for the Mother Goddess of Ireland.

I'll miss her like crazy.

Haha, no, diferent aunt. One of my mom's ten brothers and sisters.

I hate that our daughter, while grieving for the auntie who tok care of her when she was a baby, had to watch her other auntie's dog get killed right in front of her. And watch Breeda's dog on her last legs too. She said to me this morning, "This week sucks." Indeed.
