Converting lossy to lossy will degrade the quality of the files.

I use Cheetah software. It was really cheap and easy to use. If not send me the wave file and change it for you. MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! Converting lossy to lossy will degrade the quality of the files. I'm not sure. Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

You shouldn't. Transcoding lossy-to-lossy (i.e., MP3-to-MP3, or WMA-to-Ogg, etc.) degrades the quality of the file every time you do it. One should only create lossy files (i.e., MP3, OggVorbis, M4A, WMA, etc.) from lossless sources (i.e., CDs). Don't transcode between lossy formats; you'll just end up with low-quality music. :edit: spelling [Edited 1/22/09 7:16am]

You could try a lossy-to-lossy transcode; if it's "first generation", the quality loss may not be audible to you. Btw, why do you want to change formats?

Because I don't think that they would play on my iPod if I don't. Of course I could be totally wrong here, cause I really don't have that much experience with the different kinds of files. I think you're right - iPods only support MP3, AAC, WAV, and AIFF. Well, if you don't have lossless sources, try it. Hopefully, they'll sound alright.
