Same here. But it's kinda telling my house looks like an pensioner collected his whole life. It's ALL got to GO!

I've been doing that myself, it's been sort of going slowly.
But I've gotten rid of a lot of stuff in the past year,
and still want to get rid of more.
If I could rid of everything too, I would be happy.

Once I just took a couple of boxes outside and started going through them
throwing things in the garbage,
even letters,
but stopped once I saw that I was throwing away letter from my sisters.
I've decided to go through them again and keep only the ones that are meaningful,
but some of the others are gonna go in the trash.
The letters from childhood friends are gone though.

I want to end up with just the essentials, eventually.

i still have every letter that my dad wrote to me, and the 2 that my gramma wrote...from way back in '85/'86..i'm keeping them..
grams been gone since'88 and dad since'93
sun 'why y'all trying to say goodbye? I didn't go anywhere, I'm right here, im all around you,always..' sun

in a line from my dream, I heard a voice and saw a silhouette in a chair..

I felt guilty for throwing them out,
so I took them back out of the garbage.

When my gramma recently passed, we found old love letters to her ex,
and they were describing 'me' as a baby.
So this crept into my mind and I thought maybe I should keep them for future memories.
It brings the person alive in your memory again.

I think that causes hoarding because I can see the effects on my dad,
and how he treats food,
and his mom used to have a lot of canned goods all the time.
This was her way of surviving through war before,
not only that though,
they were sort of poor back in the late 40's to 50's.
So now they tend to 'stock up'.
I recently had to throw away 5 cans of refried beans (expired years ago).

you are in my mom's cupboards!! lol
i found a 6 bottle stash of barbaque sauce that expired April 2005..
she rarely uses it, so i can only say it must have been on sale, or at the closeout store.I was out at the house last week and they either bought more or dug into to the corners...
there are cupbords and corner cupboards that i didn't dare look into, but i fear i must this time around...
and my stepdad asked me to help clean out his workshop... eek

be afraid,be very afraid...

Have fun.

lol

....Oh, and we found a poem that my gramma wrote too among her letters.
Never knew that gramma like to write poetry,
even as uneducated as she was (as was a lot of people from her generation).
I thought that was an interesting find.
