Do you make more than your age regarding your salary? I read somewhere that Oprah said that as long as you are making more than your age number a year then you are doing pretty well for yourself.
For example, if you are 26 and you are making $38,000 a year, then you are successful, if you are 26 and making $20,000 a year, then thats making below average....I guess I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I was supposed to go up to AUS$38,000 when I was 29, but quit work to have babies in 2000. Our money isn't worth peanuts so I still don't think that was very successful

I've heard that before too, but unfortunately it doesn't really work if you live in an expensive city. For example, I'm 33, but if I only made $33,000 in NYC I would not consider that successful. It's not really enough to live on. (And I'm not a big spender. NYC rents are no joke.) The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I think the general idea is to make more than your age...not if you made exactly your age then you are successful. Of course in NYC and a range of other big popular cities, you would have to make more than double your age to just be comfortable. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Ex-Moderator | If this is true, I'm doing pretty damn well for myself, especially considering I'm not a college graduate. But like someone above said, it really depends on what the standard of living is where you are. $30,000 goes a LOT farther in podunk Alabama than it does in San Francisco. |

If I keep going at the rate I am I will always make more than my age.

As long as I don't get canned, I'll make more than my age 'til I retire (since I already do). We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Yup...living in the SF Bay Area, Oprah's formula doesn't work for me. I am 43, my salary is more than double my age, yet I am barely making ends meet. "Always blessings, never losses......"

But I know alot of people that are older than me that dont..or have no job at all who were making more than me before...so all this really doesnt matter with the economy like this.
