Annoying Searchengines Appearing In Internet Explorer Browser

whenever i type an address in my browser that doesn't exist or can't be displayed i'm being directed to a search engine (every time another one it seems) instead of getting the message
'this page can't be displayed

how do i get rid of this problem ?

Sounds like IE's been hijacked... it's a big pain in the ass to fix and the main reason why I only use Firefox now.

Did you update Java or Adobe recently? Sometimes those automatically install a Yahoo Search bar unless you uncheck the option (I hate that...) and that could be the cause of your probs...

BlueZebra

do you mean addresses that really don't exist or addresses like www.proince.org while you meant to go to www.prince.org . The latter is called cybersquatting, people buying addresses (gogle.com, yagoo.com, ...) and putting up an advertising/search page just to make money of it. The former is either caused by your browser (you can change that default behaviour) OR by your DNS server which relays you to a catch-all server when he can't resolve the web address to an existing IP address.
