Army boot camp questions My boyfriend is leaving for Army boot camp in May, and I am trying to get as much info as I can get. Has anyone here had a loved one go to boot camp, and if so, were you able to send them things besides letters, or is it best to just keep it to letters? Were they able to make phone calls? Were you able to see them if they got a pass? Is it okay to write everyday, or would or could this cause them a problem?
Any help that I can get from you all will be awesome! I am not looking forward to the time apart, but on that same note I am very proud of him. Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian

I've heard of band camps, computer camps, but never heard of a cam for boots. Is he going to learn how to design shoes?
I've only been to the Israeli army, so I can't help you.

When I was in the Army we could receive mail from home after the first two weeks. Letters were great but it's harder to write back and that usually only happens on weekends, so don't expect a lot in return. Phone calls weren't allowed period for eight weeks, unless it was an emergency or on your time off on weekends, rarely time at night. When we had passes we were restricted to post and no civilian contact until graduation. Probably not a lot of what you want to hear but that was my experience. [Edited 1/19/09 12:31pm] I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I've only been to the Israeli army, so I can't help you. Don't take his advice...I've seen them train and it scared the shit out of me.... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.
