So, a couple years after I lambasted techie crackheads when Apple first released the iPhone, I just broke down and bought one Thursday -- and I'm in... complete and utter lust!

But when I'm not on the iPhone screwing around (admittedly a rare occasion of late), I think about the absolute excess of owning it. I mean, yeah, it's cool -- but who really needs a phone that'll snap photos, show you how to drive from Buenos Aires to Nunavut, play songs, challenge you to a game of chess, read the Bible, translate Mandarin, act as a stethoscope, mix a Cosmopolitan and make love to you? Instead, I could've fed a poor Indian village for the price of this thing.

Do you all get buyer's remorse too? And how do you handle it?

That's not buyer's remorse. Buyer's remorse happens when something is billed as the greatest thing since sliced bread...and you don't think it was worth buying.

What you're doing is feeling guilty about things you have no control over...and trying to parade it as something noble. Get over it.

Nope. I work hard for what I earn and I have the right to spend it in whatever manner that pleases ME.

I would have buyer's remorse with the iPhone. The camera sucks donkey ass. I have friend's who have it and I hate when we take pics with their phones. The pics are all foggy looking and kinda dark. My $70 digital cam takes better pics.

Other than that, no, I usually do not have buyer's remorse. It's my money and my choice what I spend it on. As long as my bills are paid, it's not a big deal.

Rarely, but I know what you mean. I rarely get it cause I don't have anything to have buyer's remorse over. The most expensive thing I own is my laptop, and it's nothing fancy; a simple Dell I got on sale and through a corporate discount. What little I have is moderate and modest and I diligently give to charity so when I do make a splurge (like when I bought the laptop) I don't feel too badly about it.

I think I'd make a horrible lottery winner cause while I can dream big, I think I'd feel too awful to really go wild and spend money on myself.

Funny how some things are relative. I love the cameron on the iPhone... but it's probably because the cam I've had until now is like 10 years old and its photos look like ultrasounds.

Dumping a few hundred dollars on a toy is just new territory for me. I should perhaps take a few deep breaths and make some damned phone calls.

I don't get buyers remorse,because I am very careful with my money.If I see something that is expensive,and I want it,but I am hesitant to whether or not I should,I wait,and think about it,but if I know that I will just drive myself crazy,and go back,and get it anyway,then it leaves with me.

Seriously though, I got so used to not having anything that I feel guilty over almost everything I buy OR since I am the breadwinner for my family, I always think I am going to need the money for something more important. Just tonight, I took my new Wii back to the store.

Look...not buying an iPhone isn't going to help the poor. Even if you don't buy the phone and give the money you would have spent on the phone to a charitable organization...the fact that you didn't buy the phone just means some poor shlub in China isn't going to get paid to build it.

If you want to give to charity, give to charity - for it's own sake. Don't sit there and say, "Well, geez...I shouldn't have bought this iPhone. Think of all the starving children in [insert poor country here]." It just makes you look naive and ridiculous.

ooh I have a thing similar, except it can kick in before I hand over the money. I can suddenly just as quickly lose the "have to have it".
If I find I want it again, or a few days/weeks pass and I still want it, then I really SHOULD.

It's crazy because I get the guilt over spending $20. I don't usually handle it. Something else comes along that takes my attention and eventually I forget about it.

yeah..it happens when i impulse buy..I end up saying why the fu$# did i buy this? i already have 4 in my closet!

as i get older...this doesnt happen as often, I am learning SELF control. also i cant afford to waste $$..im saving for a new house.

Hi, Lammastide. I don't think I've ever experienced buyer's remorse. When I buy something, I make sure it is something I really want, before I spend the money on it.
