I have read where both the One A Day,and Centrum vitamins, do not break down or absorb into the body, and that people were finding them in the toilet. eek My aunt takes, and used to sell the Shaklee vitamins. She loves them.

I try to eat well instead, but I should probably take them during the winter. Also, there are findings that magnesium helps with Restless Legs Syndrome so I should def get on that because then maybe I could quit the prescription stuff.

This is going to sound bizarre but the biggest reason I don't take vitamins is they make me feel too good. when I take them on a regular basis I have a hard time sleeping from how much energy they give me mad I usually have to take half pills to avoid that.

I forgot to answer the question, sorry redface

At least here (in Sweden) there are now specialised vitamins for women that are somewhat different from "normal" ones - I couldn't tell you exactly what the differences are but one is... is it called follic acid in English? boxed Ask at the local health store if you have one, they should know. nod

I don't take multiple vitamins...they actually make me feel
not so good...I take 1000 units of vitamin D in the winter
however....it helps with the muscle aches and pains associated
with lack of sunshine. I also take extra magnesium for leg cramps.

Winter's for the birds sometimes lol

Oh, and a lot of the multiple vitamins contain 100% of your
daily need for vitamine A, so if you're getting enough in your
diet, you're getting too much. Vitamin A can actually be toxic.

i think the liquid stuff is hard to get cause you usually have to see specialist or a doctor. i think its consider pharmaceutical grade.

A lot of vitamins are energizing - the B group, in particular. Take your multivitamin in the morning.

Certain minerals - magnesium and calcium, most notably - have a calming effect. Take those at night. Magnesium also has the benefit of making you "go." Take it at night and you'll go first thing in the morning.

I take multivitamins only sporadically. But I always take magnesium and C, plus cod liver oil (for D and A) in the winter.

I used to be super into vitamins. I took a myriad of supplements from 2004-2006 during cancer treatment and off treatment. I also ate extremely "well." Only free-range meat (and little, at that), organic food when at all possible, very little sugar, drank only water and tea. I was a maniac about living like that.

The thing is...I kept having problems with the cancer. The original mets are what prompted me to start doing all that stuff. Then it happened again and the bone mets became "active" after a year. Then the last straw was when my liver went haywire and a nodule was found. I quit all supplements and greatly eased up on my psycho diet.

Two years with no vitamin supplements and relaxed eating habits (smart, healthy eating, but allow myself indulgences), and my liver is the greatest it's ever been, bone mets have been stable (some scans show nothing)!

So, in my experience, vitamin supplements are useless.

Fauxie

Probiotic Multivitamins

Calcium with vitamins D & K

Spirulina

Every so often cod liver oil with calcium

Of course, I still drink lots of fruit juice and eat lots of fruit and veggies.

I usually take Boots supplements over others as they keep the levels low and safe.
