And the award for Father of the year goes to... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...?GT1=43001
GREENFIELD, Calif. - Police have arrested a Greenfield man for allegedly arranging to sell his 14-year-old daughter into marriage in exchange for $16,000, 100 cases of beer and several cases of meat. Police said they only learned of the deal after the 36-year-old man went to them to get his daughter back because payment wasn't made as promised. The man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of human trafficking. Officers also arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of statutory rape. Investigators believe the girl went willingly with the man, but she's under California's legal age of consent and can't legally marry. Police say arranged marriages involving underage girls have become a problem in this small Central Coast farming community. I wonder where the hell her Mother is? is it that hard to get beer out there? do they live in a dry county?
what the fuck is wrong with someone where they would feel the need to sell their teenage daughter into marriage for some cash, beer, and meat? Are they a part of some cult? Seriously, WTF? I wonder where the hell her Mother is?
He probably sold her off for some stadium seats and a lasso. [Edited 1/13/09 10:43am] | |

Officers also arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of statutory rape. Investigators believe the girl went willingly with the man, but she's under California's legal age of consent and can't legally marry.
Police say arranged marriages involving underage girls have become a problem in this small Central Coast farming community. The folks involved were Mexican immigrants who still arranged marriages....the beer, beef, and cash was a reverse dowry, if you will...and as the story points out, the girl went willingly because in the family's culture, there was nothing wrong with the arranged marriage.... Not defending it, especially since by coming to America they're supposed to know and abide by OUR statutory laws...but this case is more a matter of a culture clash than some heinous man trying to get his belly full of beer and beef off of his daughter..... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.
