Alot of people who I worked with in the music/ Dj industry. So sad to see all your friends disappear.

Disappear?

They've died.

Why would you make such a tedious correction of someone's gentle post?

Plus, you're wrong. The second definition of "disappear" from Webster's 11th: "to cease to be: pass out of existence or notice."

It wasn't tedious to me.

Disappear sounds like they merely ceased to exist or walked away and you never heard from them again.

I know that they didn't merely cease to exist, nor did the pass out or existence or notice.

They are people I loved who have died, not disappeared.

It wasn't nearly that neat, detached or antiseptic.

no one is implying otherwise, regardless of your personal reaction to the word.
a loss is a loss... a death is a death. no matter what the cause, no matter what the circumstance death affects us all. second guessing anyone else's loss seems rather futile.

btw my "personal reaction" words are "my condolences" and "sorry for your loss"
i try not to utter them. doesn't mean i think the person saying it is not genuine.

'Disappeared' for me suggests Argentina or Chile (Sting - 'They Dance Alone'.) Those people disappeared. That's another horror.
