Now PETA are not only advocating "humane" euthanasion of dogs as opposed to rehoming them, but there are also "sea kittens". Somebody pass the crack pipe. rolleyes

I think they've been irreverent for a while now. This is just proof in their misguided pudding.

shrug makes sense to me, in context.

if you're going to be an animal rights organization, you should not only advocate for the cute ones. whether PETA's attempt to get the FWS to ban fishing altogether is realistic, is another story. still, it's their job.

I bought sea kittens mail order from the back of a comic when I was younger. They were meant to hatch after a few days, but nothing ever happened.

Bought a tank for them and everything....

sad

But do you honestly see ANYBODY thinking of fish as sea kittens? This campaign will only serve to ridicule PETA (more) in the eyes of the public, and spends many valuable dollars that could be used to actually save animals.

no, of course not. but it does drive home the point that it's not just the cute and cuddly ones that need protection.

i've found that people who disagree with PETA will always see their actions as ridiculous, and people who support PETA find them imaginative. so, to a degree, i agree that PETA has created its own enemies, but at the same time, their points are quite valid. shrug

disbelief All they do is spread disease and draw blood, they aren't prey to anything - no scientist has been able to prove they have any biological or ecological function. Kill them all! woot!

Thanks for getting my thread locked!

I see now that I should have been discussing the all-important dog/sea kitten dynamic, rather than just plain old dogs and cats.

You're welcome! I hate to break it to you, but you aren't a dog. Or a cat. You can do better with creating threads. Talk about Volvos v Mustangs nod

I WAS. If you hadn't influenced the putty-like June7 and gotten my thread locked, you would have seen that dogs were an analogy for Mustangs, and cats were represented Volvos!

I was thisclose to driving the point home, and possibly rescuing the Northern European economy in the process.

But NO.....
