It's all the way up to 11 here and my water pipes just burst. I've had a space heater on the main ones but they must have frozen further up. I HATE THIS mad
I am so fortunate I was home when it happened and know how to turn off the shutoff valves so the water didn't pour down from the ceiling (yep the pipes are in the ceiling ~ don't even ask). I was shaking thinking of the damage that could have occurred and that a fire could have started with my dogs and kittie in the house. Now there is just a minor mess in two rooms to mop up and beams to remove so the pipes can be repaired.

And, it's been snowing all day and the winds are ridiculous. The roads are beginning to be snow covered and treacherous and snow is drifting everywhere. sad
I just want to hibernate until Spring.

oh no moonsongs sad i've had them freeze before but not burst. i'm glad you were home too.

the other night when it was -40 my house was popping all night neutral only the next morning did i think to check the basement. rolleyes
btw pipe insulation on the outside walls is good... or let your taps drip if you are worried about freeze up. sometimes hanging an incandescent bulb near the trouble spot is enough heat to keep it from freezing. hug and know that the warmer weather is coming.

Thanks emm. The warmup(?) is starting tomorrow with temps in the 20's. Water in my home has been an ongoing problem but never with the burst pipes before. I'm wondering if insurance will help pay repairs and some warped wood.

I am adjusting to the weather fine. My wife is ok with the weather. We all like it here in Ottawa. I am not liking the traffic in the morning. Damn bus strike.

Ya, the city really needs to get their shit together on that. Traffic was always bad here but now it's the WORST.

It's been -30 here as well- I think today is the coldest. The cold made my tire explode this morning as soon as I started to head to work. lol It's right off the rim.

Winter blows.

No way! I've never seen that happen. Hope you and the squirt were okay! I had to buy a new battery for the car as the old one didn't have enough cold cranking amps for this weather but other than that, it's been okay.

I see the forecast has backed off those freezing mark forecasts though confused still -14 here but that's better than the wind chill of -57 the other night lol

It didn't exactly explode, what actually happened was the tire lost it's bead due to the cold. Something to do with aluminum rims. I dunno. And it also turned out that it happened to 2 tires. Had to take both in to be repaired.

Blah.

I believe so. I am not sure about the particulars but when he is leaving Canada, I will have a chance to see him. There may be other opportunities, but I don't know the details.

I bought some winter tires after the first snow fall. The tires make driving easier, especially going up inclines.
