My daughter and I were just victims of a hit and run accident...

we were stopped at a light, and this car slammed into us from behind. Good thing she said "Daddy, put on your seatbelt" when we started out. I put the car into park, and got out to see if the other driver was okay, when I see him trying to turn his wheel...and backing up!. I pulled my cell phone out immediately, and called 911.. I realized he's trying to make u-turn, so I told 911 that the other guy is taking off!.....I read his license plate to the operator, and get back into the car trying to calm my daughter. They ask me if there's any damage, and I go back to check my bumper..only to see a piece of the other car wedge atop the exhaust pipe. I pull it out, and what's there, but the other car's license plate. I had given the wrong license plate over the phone, but when the cop came, I gave him said license plate. He was able to track down the car's owner and time will see what happens.
Thank goodness we weren't hurt, but seomtimes life sucks..

That's messed up. I am glad you both are okay. hug

It's funny about kids and seatbelts: my son can't speak but as soon as we get in the car, he pulls the seatbelt so I can put mine on.

OMG! I am glad that you are both ok.
I was in an accident several years ago. The lady ran a light, slammed into the back corner panel of my car on drivers side. I spun around and blew out two tires. Luckily there was a girl that saw it all and stopped. I could see the lady that hit me trying to leave the scene. I could not get out of my car. The witness ran over to the lady that hit me and made her stay at the scene.
People are so ignorant.

hug hug to you and your daughter.

I'm glad U and your daughter are okay.... which is most important. But it was good that the idiot lost his license plate! mad

My sister & I were involved in an accident like that about 5 years ago. When we got out to see the damage, she sped off around me almost hitting me! omg
Karen got her plate#, and when the police came we gave it to him.
When they caught her, she said she "felt threatened" by the 2 of us! confused
She was charged with "leaving the scene of an accident".

So take heart, this person WILL be dealt with. nod

Glad to hear you & your daughter are OK.

Hopefully the car wasn't stolen. Did you get a good look at the other driver?

If you were hit from behind, then the other driver is 100% at fault, so the insurance won't give you any problems.

it doesn't sound like there was any damage. typically the police dont want to be involved unless there is something major where their assistance is needed, such as directing traffic around the accident..if its that bad.

typical ideal etiquette, if one can avoid be overly dramatic, is to get off the road and out of the way of other drivers so as to not cause more potential accidents and exchange info, if need be. Cars are made to take a bump at certain speed. Its the law. Even insurance companies dont usually get involved in that. Or the cost of the deductible is enough to cover any damage and not worth the extra points and higher cost of insurance coverage to get the insurance company involved.
