Do you drink at home? Technically everyone drinks at home...but I specifically mean drinking alcoholic beverages.
I have found that I do not like to drink at home. I'd prefer to be out at a club drinking and dancing. How about you? I'm firmly planted in denial

Ex-Moderator | I live alone and I don't usually drink alone, so no.
Once in a while I want a nice glass of wine and I don't feel like going out so I'll have a glass or two at home. But this is only about once every 2 months or so. I always end up pouring half a bottle out cause it goes bad before I can drink it. I have a bottle of vodka in my freezer that has been there since August of 2007 and there's still plenty left. I really don't drink much anymore (it's been a side effect of quitting smoking, I never want to get tipsy cause then I REALLY want a cigarette) but even when I was going out for drinks regularly I rarely drank in my own house. |

I have recently found that this is a major topic for me.
My hubby and I usually have friends over for dinner and drinks and I'm finding I'm bored to death of it and so are they. But then I start looking for a place to go out for dinner and drinks and I'm not finding anything. I'm way past the going to a "meat-market" type place but that's what I'm finding. I'm drinking a small bottle of wine my very good friend got me at Christmes
but if I have a drink I prefer it to be social... and not excessive

Yes. I love the occasional glass of vodka. And I entertain a lot, so there's always something to drink.

yes, usually just wine with dinner or just some crown and ginger. I find that if I go out I usually can't drink because either I am driving or I end up being the babysitter for the one who drinks too damn much. I drink at out neighborhood parties, that's where I get to relax and have fun. then I can just stagger on home. We usually drink at home...the wife and I don't do the whole clubbing scene anymore...especially since we live in an area with 2 major military bases (1 Army, 1 Air Force) nearby...and 5 total within a 4 hour driving range...and as anyone who has lived around a big military presence knows, young single military folk DON'T KNOW HOW TO ACT...quick to disrespect your significant other and quicker to fight...so we drop a DVD/Blu-ray in, pour wine or rums/coke and enjoy our high-end electronic toys in the peace of our home... Close to never. I only drink liquor and I'm a horrible bartender so I usually go out. I will drink at my home in the rare event that I have drinking guests but even then it's only a drink because it's usually so gross. Shake it til ya make it

That's cool that you can spend time at home together but surely there are places you can go that aren't full of army.. Some people are like Slinkies...

I prefer to drink at home. I only drink daiquiris and they make me sleepy. So to be safe...I need a place to lay down. "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

That's cool that you can spend time at home together but surely there are places you can go that aren't full of army.. It would require WAYYYYY too much driving...locally, off post is crawling with troops...many of whom are in my current unit (and either have worked for me or know me relatively well)....Tucson/Phoenix blend in the Air Force folk...not to mention the Marines who drive east from Yuma...and honestly, to an extent, I'm not too big on being in a club with a total crowd (college and military) that is mostly less than half my age...I'm sure there's some "old fogey" spots around here, but then the issue becomes hanging out with a bunch of older fogies... I keep my bar stocked for myself & guests I leave it up to my mood - I don't have to have people around or be out somewhere to feel like having a drink, but I prefer the social aspect of it.

Occasionally. Not really big on alcohol in general, never acquired a taste for it, but i picked up a new book with different beverages and sauces and occasionally, I like to give it a try.

Sure. I've got a bottle of absinthe sitting on my counter right now.
Last year I moved to a city where smoking is still allowed in bars (this may change soon, though), so I don't visit them very much. It's too bad, since there are some nice ones within walking distance from my place. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

i drink a 1/2 glass of wine when I have the night off( I work nights) but I never drink and go out in public I dotn want to take the risk of hurting aanother person behind the wheel ( designated drivered or not). So yes I like to drink at home if it turns to me getting drunk I KNOW Im not out and about being one of the loons just getting out of bars in my area. I prefer to drink at home, I don't spend time at the sports bars or clubs anymore. When I did, I would only drink mineral water, since you have to keep a sharp eye on dudes that don't know how to drink and become sloppy ass-grabbers.
I will go out for wine/martini's with the girls over dinner... but that's it. I never drink when I'm upset. I just never have a desire to, I do like to chill with a nice glass of wine and good music when I'm all by myself and the kids are sleeping soundly.

one glass of wine with dinner or a digestiv after dinner. Friday nights I treat myself to a mixed cocktail; I used to experiment with the trendy colorful drinks to show off for the girls, but now I'm learning how to do the old skool cocktails to show off for geriatric business colleagues

I rarely drink at home. Just always thought it was bad practice to drink alone, so I never really got into the habit.
I have a glass of wine or a beer occasionally. Or I'll make hot chocolate and put a shot of something in it. But that's as far as it goes. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
