Try 100% Shea butter. L'OCCITANE en Provence is a good brand.

Get a humidifier and plenty of lotion. It also helps to have an assistant... A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon

No problem. There is no pretroleum or added oils or fragrances. Its really nice and protects your skin wonderfully.

THIS STUFF and a humidifier seems to do the trick for me. I get awful, painful itchy dry skin in the winter and I have to use both the creme and the humidifier every night when I go to bed, or else I'm up all night scratching and cussing.

I am learning all about using moisturizer living here and experiencing real winters. Eucerin and Nivea are both good to help severe dry skin. for maintenence during winter:
vaseline intensive care lotion for sensitive skin and after apply a little petroleum jelly or 100%shea butter works- be careful of lioccitane if you have eczema becausse they add fragrance and that could irritate you. or aquaphor healing ointment. you need the moisture and the barrier (petroleum) so you may have to deal with the "grease" factor unitl you skin heals. also don't let the eczema get out of control before seeing a doctor and getting a medicated ointment LOVE HARD.

also check the type of soap you are using - you may be stripping your skin and use as cool of water to wash as possible - hot water can irritate/strip skin of it's natural oils as well
Laundry soaps/softerners can also irritate dry skin

Laundry soaps/softerners can also irritate dry skin yes! use a detergent that's free and clear of dyes and parfum- don't use "soap" but a body wash was like dove LOVE HARD.

I have the same problem. I use aveeno every day when I get out of the shower. Also when I have it REALLY bad I use emo oil. You can order it online and it is great....it's the only oil that gets deeper into the dermis of the skin. It has many benefits for other ailments as well. Check it out!
Also sometimes I take baths with a couple squirts of baby oil. Just be careful when you get out of the tub, it's slippery!

Same issues here. I use various lotions/cremes including cocoa butter and Neutrogena body oil. The oil I'll put in the tub (like she said, be careful) or I'll just put it on immedately after I get out of the shower/tub.

Maybe I'm ghetto, but a little vaseline goes a long way If you will, so will I

You can try Johnson's Intensive Healing lotion. It's thick and rich but not greasy. You can find it right next to Johnson & Johnson baby lotion.

Not ghetto at all (petrolium works great), Aquaphor is a great lotion - the best I've tried for dry skin. Its greasy but it works the best on cracked skin. I use a moisturizing soap and slather on pure edible coconut oil in the shower, after bathing .... then use Eucerine/aquaphor/sheabutter for the rough spots.

I've got eczema on my hands, but it's not bad. I've got an Rx from the derm. Two of my friends have kids that have eczema and they use vaseline too - it's good for that!

Aquaphor. It's like vaseline, but thicker. When my kids were babies they had dry skin and eczema and their pediatricians recommended it. It worked, but you have to massage it in several times a day to keep the itchies at bay.

If your skin is sensitive to skin creams, try this. It works for me.
