Should we clone endangered species...? ..or bring back extinct animals?
Just because we can now do this, should we?

No use ! would only harm the species genetics in the end !
Being endangered is unfortunately a part of evolution ! Futuristic Fantasy

Don't fuck with nature. Yeah, let's get rid off all humanity. Humanity sucks.

Well...Quite. Which is why i said don't fuck with nature. It's just unfortunate that we've already lost some species but to bring them back...? I dunno. Maybe it was meant to be. Plenty of other birds to look at anyway. [This message was edited Thu Nov 21 6:35:23 PST 2002 by Cloudbuster]

could we not just try cloning a few intelligent, motivated american voters, maybe in a few year's time? They're real endangered, and I think the whole world would thank us for it. All those who believe in telekinetics, raise my hand...

It wouldn't do much for the endangered species if we were able to perfectly clone.
If these animals are not able to exist or continue in the wild, how would cloning them and then putting them in a zoo help them? I feel the same way about zoo's. If we cage the only remaining animals in a species, have they really avoided extinction?

Why did those scientists in Scotland bother cloning Doll the Sheep if they are not going to put this ability to good use? I've heard they've cloned rabbits! i mean WTF?!
what's the point in that? I'd like to see Animals cloned that have practically been wiped out by man, both by hunting and deforestation. It's man that has caused their near destruction/extinction, IMO that is anything but nature at work. If we can put it right we should.

The ecosystem of the planet is a fine balance of birth, life, and death.
I don't think it's a good idea to mess with it. We have already done some damage - let's not assume we can somehow make up for our stupidity. Do you realize how often man has put a species where it didn't belong for whatever reason and destroyed another in the process? That might be off-topic, but I consider messing with the animal kingdom just isn't smart.

I have to disagree here...

There's no such thing as a "balance" in nature--if that were so, it would have held still millions of years ago instead of evolving into the set that we see today. Nature herself has done just as much "damage" as man. But it's not "damage" so much as it is simply inevitable change. Fear is the mind-killer.

It all depends on if the way they became endangered in the first place will it happen again? what will they do to protect them?and who would fund this type of program? I'm BAD's FIRST BORN Baby Girl

Let nature do it's course. I wish humans will stop interfering so much.
But then again, kill the spiders!!! at least those big ones that I keep finding in my appartement.

I feel we should let nature take its course. there may b a reason why something goes extinct. cloning could change the layed out plans of the world, & alter it for the worse. plans ARE layed out, & should b left that way. May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love.

The Creator knows what He's doing, and He certainly doesn't need help from His creations.
