What is with Brett Farve? Brett Farve:
"I'm an emotional guy, and I'm sure people are tired of seeing me get emotional. People would probably say, 'Oh, here he goes again.' I think it would just better for me to just thank the Jets, and I sincerely mean that. It was well worth what I invested. But I'm going to just quietly step away if that's what happens".

Better question... What is it with these SUPER Star athletes who just can't walk away with a prime record. I'll only point out Joe Montana playing for the Chiefs, Jerry Rice and the Seahawks, and now Brett Favre and the Jets as examples.
All stellar careers only to be seriously muddled in the end by an overreaching desire to play... A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon

All stellar careers only to be seriously muddled in the end by an overreaching desire to play... Jordan in Washington..... These guys spent their whole lives telling themselves they were the best ever. It's not surprising that they won't accept a change in that fact unless it is proven to them by their play on the court. Look at it this way - almost EVERY great athlete hangs on "too long". They can't all be morons. There's just something about great athletes (or really, just about ALL pro athletes) that drives them to compete when we all can see they don't have it any more.

It's only natural. Giving up something that u love 2 do at the age of 39/40 years old is tough.

All stellar careers only to be seriously muddled in the end by an overreaching desire to play... Because, for those athletes, the thirst to compete is overwhelming and won't ever be quenched, even well after they've retired. ALL great players in every sport possess that thirst. When you've been at the top of your game for so long, it's hard to walk away. Also, a lot of ot has to do with the spotlight. It's hard giving that up as well. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

All stellar careers only to be seriously muddled in the end by an overreaching desire to play... Jordan in Washington..... I go contrary to most and say I liked watching even a less than perfect Jordan, but it hurt me to watch Magic struggle and get ejected from the game because he was upset that he sucked. My Legacy

These things must be hard for guys that have spent over half their lives doing what they love, making millions, and having millions of fans.
That being said, these images are just wrong: "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."
