Fam is meant to be short for family.
If a member of my family treated me like Prince treats his 'famz' then I'd disown them. In my opinion, it's an extremely patronising term and is only used by people who have no originality and ideas of their own, and are quite happy for Prince to control their every thought. | |

To me it represents all of us who can really dig Princes music. The one and only thing we ALL have in common. Like a family. A family can be very diverse, but they all have the same bloodline. Prince connects us through music. So when I'm standing in the crowd and we ALL are groovin together we are like one big FAMily! | |

Prince did not start the fam idea, but the people running the old L4OA love4oneanother.com. Prince had been saying in interviews and on stage about how he did not need anymore fans but friends. If you could be a friend cool but not a fan, which is short for fanatic. L4OA took that idea of being friend of the artist, and it became Fam. | |

FAMS are people who are even more FANATIC than FANS.
I am an admirer. Of his bleeding music. Not of his wife. Or his car. Or his high heels. His music is what moves me. But since he's making it virtually impossible to level with him lyrically wise I am moving away from my dedication to his music. My interests are all over the place and I will always follow his movements, as he still got this incredible voice. The concerts were awsome. | |
