I have a new kitty!

She's sooooo cute and sooooo sweet!

mushy

My upstairs neighbor (and bff) was gifted with two teeny tiny little kitties for Xmas. He was so, so happy with them. Unfortunately, his allergies were not. sad He was at the point where he couldn't breathe.

So I have heroically taken in one of the kitties. (The other went to a close friend.) Her name is Islington (pronounced like island). I didn't name her, but it suits her just fine.

I've never owned more than one kitty at a time. She and Sugar Girl aren't quite getting along yet, but I'm hoping it's only a matter of time.

Here are some pics (it's hard to get her to sit still for the camera!!).

There is a lot of growling and hissing going on!! lol

I'm hoping it doesn't last too long. I feel badly for both of them. I know it's very stressful on kitties, but ultimately, I think it will be nice for them to have a friend when I'm not home.

That's why I got a second one, too. They both seem to like to have each other around.

When I first got my first kitty, she was the new cat in a house of two. There was a great deal of growling, hissing, territorial urinating (from the other cats), etc. for a while but then they got used to each other. Most cats don't do the urination thing...these cats were a bit "special" (and not mine!).

My first cat will still hiss and growl at my other one when he's starting trouble with her but that's more her personality than anything else. Sometimes they even groom each other now. And they also gang up on me in the morning when it's time for breakfast. lol

sooooo cute!

Yeah, I know I can probably expect an angry pee on something or other in the next week, I just hope it's not excessive.

kitties and i have not historically be the best of friends. but i bonded with the one nathan rescued a few years ago, and vice versa. i think being the person that could get him to stop hissing at and cowering from all forms of human life thawed my kitty-cold-heartedness.

but i can't really see myself as a cat owner, except for that one. on the other hand, i'm in a phase where i'm all about ME ME ME (not selfishly - i just don't have a lot of energy for others) and a dog is probably a little too high maintenance, so i've been thinking more and more about making it a cat whenever i take the plunge.

When I got my second cat, there was no angry peeing. Just the growling and hissing. The cats I was living with before were damn near feral and peed all over the damn place anyway. They lived in the house and had an owner but they just weren't right in the head. It's a shame, really.

i've heard of people bathing persian cats or at least using waterless shampoo on them.

i've never had a long haired cat.

I wouldn't do it often, only if it was absolutely necessary. Can't say she liked it lol
