I was thinking about this because the way my body reacts to hunger is pretty weird, or so I think anyway. I know we're not all the same with this, hence the question. What happens to me when I get hungry:
1. Tummy growls (no shit)
2. If I ignore it or forget to eat, I get shaky and feel nervous. This is VERY much like withdrawal like when I was on heavy painkillers and stopped, it feels a lot like that. It's wacky
3. I get headaches

Then food cravings - my body gets VERY specific when it feels I need a certain type of food. I get cravings for just about anything and everything if I haven't had enough of it - from salt to sugar, fish to fruit and veggies. It kinda feels good when you get a craving and realise it's for cucumber and tomatoes instead of candy or chips. lol Not so good when it's the other way around though. confused

So, how does your body work?

Sounds like you have hypoglycaemia

I almost never have those normal body responses like hunger pangs, stomach growling, etc. I do like a fruit or a bowl of cereal in the morning which I eat more out of force of habit than anything else. But I often have to remember to eat something in the evening. I rarely eat lunch.

Doctor says no, since before I started losing weight they've tested everything a million times and it's spot on now, I've been like this forever. shrug

Have you tried testing sugar levels when you feel that way? Just wondered.

I got back on my diet as of this past Monday and I'm hungry right now. My stomach growls and I become a bitch. I'm already a bitch anyway but when I'm hungry I become a real bitch. I try drinking a Diet Coke or some tea sweetened with Sweet-N-Low and then smoke a cigarette to get my mind off of food. It works a little but only short term. If I didn't smoke, I would be an absolute bitch.

The best way to get your mind off of food is to argue. Hell, go to your favorite section of the org and get into a big disagreement with someone that lasts three pages long. That will get your mind off of food for a good while. lol

nod They gave me one of those little thingies that you prick your finger on and stick the paper thingy in the sugar lever meter and measure, I used it for two weeks before and after every meal, nothing out of the ordinary. However, it stands to reason that it's not good for the body to let it go that far, I've been way better over the past year while losing weight/eating right, but lately (over the damn holidays rolleyes ) I've been doing it again. A fruit and perhaps a sandwich will do the trick, so I'm trying to do that.

I've got to diet and get these pounds back off because I really put on some pounds last year that I had gotten off years before. The smaller the waist, the more men to taste. Hell, I used to be having four and fivesomes. Now I'm lucky to even have a onesome. lol

Oh no, it's much easier to just be hungry than exercise. I lost lots of weight like that a few years ago. If there were some good ass shakin' clubs out there, that would be great exercise but music is too slow these days to shake ass to unless you shake it by yourself at home and that's no fun. lol

Ummm... hello? I lost about 45 lbs over the past year... no diet. Eat RIGHT, not little. No excluding carbs or some such shit, your body needs all food groups. ALL diets will make you put on more than you lost when you go off them - learning to eat right will stay with you for the rest of your life. Just do that instead of going all yo-yo. nod

I have plenty of protein with every main meal, it's just easier to have a fruit and sarnie on the go in between.

A few years ago, I lost 100 pounds by cutting down cutting out as much fat as possible by buying low fat products, eating lots of vegetables, eating only baked fish or chicken for meat. I ate only one meal a day but it was a big meal. The rest of the day, I drank diet coke or tea with no calorie sweetener. It was pure hell but in less than one year, I had lost 100 pounds and kept most of it off for years until my mother died in mid 2007 and that's when I started eating whatever, whenever, and as much as I pleased. It's getting back up there and if I don't do something, I'll be back up where I was before.

I do too. I gotta get a little of this weight off first so I can shake it longer without getting tired. lol

You have to be prepared mentally to actually have the willpower to do it. No dobt it is hard. but it sounds like you TOTALLY deprived yourself. You don't have to be give up everything that tastes good. For example, you say you drink tea with no sweetner, but using honey , which I use everyday, is acceptable to sweenten your tea. BTW, be careful with the diet soda - it has a lot of chemicals and lots of sodium (a big bloater). if you're in the mood to have a soda once in a while, just have a regular soda - it won't kill you, lol.

And I'm sorry to hear about your mom.

What part of "eating right" is hard to understand? It's elementary understanding of metabolism that to keep up a steady burning you need to eat at regular intervals divided throughout the day - otherwise the body will start saving up instead of burning the energy. Eat the right amount of carbs, protein and fat from good sources and exercise, and you'll feel good as well as lose weight. There's nothing you can't eat at times, as opposed to all the shitnamed diets that exclude whatever. It's simple really.

I was thinking about this because the way my body reacts to hunger is pretty weird, or so I think anyway. I know we're not all the same with this, hence the question. What happens to me when I get hungry:

2. If I ignore it or forget to eat, I get shaky and feel nervous. This is VERY much like withdrawal like when I was on heavy painkillers and stopped, it feels a lot like that. It's wacky

Then food cravings - my body gets VERY specific when it feels I need a certain type of food. So, how does your body work?

I dont know what its like to feel hungry. My problem is I eat all the time.

BAD BAD BAD.
Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize
u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,
with u it's not so bad
Here on earth, here on earth
eye don't feel so sad
Stay right here
