And he's lost about a BILLION dollars before and didn't resort to cashing in on his land. He's had a lot of that land for decades too and lives mostly in Montana or South Dakota or some other place with buffalo. So I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt that he is doing it for altruistic reasons.

I see your point. Again, I can't say because I don't know him. Philanthropic isn't the one of the first words that comes to my mind when you mention Mr. Turner, hence my doubt.

Now let's talk about tits and ass before Luv4u moves this to P&R....

Actually, that's exactly what comes to mind when he is mentioned. For one thing, dude has given 600 million of his own money to the UN and plans to give more.

Phil and Val are two of the nicest, most generous people I have ever met. Phil has offered his help to me on more than one occasion, without reservation, and for that I consider him one of my true, real life friends. hug

I'm drunk.

hug

Well I must say one thing, a few ppl here love to hate my husband. That is their loss. I have never known a man that would help his friends out like Phil. He has the biggest heart and would do anything for the ones he loves.
Even Dan lol

Most of Turner's land is unspoiled nature. I mean, the Bush administration has openned up natural land for silly shit like snow mobiling and off-road sports, Turner's land remains unspoiled.

Whatever his motivations, most of that million acres is unspoiled and protected.

You want an opinion as opposed to an article written by someone else with no clue as to the posters feelings on the matter? [Snip bait - luv4u]

I hope Obama turns that shit back.

I enjoy outdoor activities as much as anyone, especially water sports (kayaking, wave running, boating, etc.).
But protected land doesn't need to be molested, and engine noise is a form of that.

Bush had no respect for natural land outside of his protections against certain marine estuaries.

disbelief Damn, Gray, your thread sure got jacked. hijacked

Anyway, I really like Ted, sure he's eccentric and definitely can be a jerk, he seems to have a real zest for life and is enjoying his money. He also seems generous and is sharing his wealth instead of hoarding it like a lot of wealthy people do. He's a REAL Maverick. thumbs up!

Here's the transcript and video from his 60 minutes interview in November.
