The single greatest appliance in our household!!!! OMG, this is the greatest thing EVER.
and it looks like a half organic/half mech face hugger from Alien 23:Queen of the Suction! Don't even ask about the amount of dirt it pulled up from our "supposedly" clean carpets, YU-K! I love you Dyson DC21!

ive had my upright for about 6-8 years. and it works like they day i bought it, but it is looking quite rough. Its not recommended, but you can submerge nearly every part except the motor in water and wash it completely.
AND if you get a hole in the hose, any minor thing that may come off or wear on the attachments, you simply call the 800 number on the vacuum and they ship you a new part immediately with no hassle, just tell them your shipping address. I have a stock pile of new accessories/parts for my old dyson. Its about time for a new one though. The only thing wrong with it is it fell down a flight of stairs in the basement when i was cleaning them, and a piece broke off the top area that holds the handle / hose in place so i have to use some duct tape to keep it in place it will make a good car vac when its retired.

I have an upright Dyson for pet hair. It's awesome. I always have enough cat hair in the canister to make 10 more cats and the things keeps sucking up hair. I think it's sucking up pet hair from the previous owners of this house. Shake it til ya make it

I used it on our family room (it has the most traffic due to the kids) and I filled the canister, barely any carpet fiber, ALL a very dark gray mix of dirt and skin I suppose. Blech. Oh DC21, how I love thee.

Damn, it should suck up all the dirt off the carpet and then some for the price it is!!!! Doesn't it cost like $500? I won't be paying that much on just a vacuum cleaner. Sorry. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I have the purple Dyson Animal and am completely in love with it. I've had a Kirby and an Oreck and they didn't come close to the Dyson. I take it completely apart about every four months to wash everything ~ just be sure to let the filter dry thoroughly before using it, Music is the language of the spirit. I happen to like my vacuum:
It's the Bissell Healthy Home Bagless Upright Vacuum. I got it at half of the price of the Dyson vacuum and it sucks up just about everything. It's amazing how much duirt I found in my carpet after I first used this. I think I had to empty the canister after just two uses. If you want an inexpensive substitute for the Dyson brand of vacuums, you can't go wrong with this.

We got an awesome deal on this vacuum, and even so I was very resistant to dropping such a chunk of our savings on a vacuum cleaner. But I'm sold. This thing should have my babies. I thought it was way expensive too, but after seeing how much dirt this thing picked up, and showing me how much dirt other's AREN'T picking up, I gotta say it's worth it. It may be double the price, but I would bet it does it's job at least twice as well.

Dyson's are far superior to other vacs. Even the more expensive "Kirby" (sp?) vacuums, which by the way, have awful customer service. But for the price of some Dysons or Kirbys, you could almost just rip up the carpet and put in Hard Wood Floors.

They're recommended by pediatricians, too. Our youngest has asthma and our old vacuum cleaner wasn't doing shit to clean the carpets as well as we needed for her. The Normal Whores Club
