Bay Area TREMORS Luckily I'm not close enough to San Ramon to feel the nonstop aftershocks, but I've felt 4 of the big aftershocks where I am in Oakland. Any other Bay Area Orgers a little freaked?
It really reminds you that we're just visitors on this planet, kickin' it for a while. In my day to day I forget that the earth is alive, you know?? And I'm constantly on the Bay Bridge, don't wanna get caught in the middle of a big earthquake on a friggin' bridge. The "experts" say Cali is gonna fall off into the ocean within 30 years anyway - I'm SCARED! I had enough in the quake of '89!  
Anybody ever been in a serious earthquake? Where were you? What happened? I don't know why I'm asking this, it's only gonna unnerve me more, lol... . I didn't feel any tremors down here is San Jose.But I do rememeber the big one we had in 1989.Believe it or not,it occurred while I was listening to "Partyman" on my walkman  | |

The quake of 89 scared the shit out of me. My mom is a bit nuts and actually took my sisters and me to tennis lessons that day, as they began 15 minutes after the quake happened. Needless to say only one other family showed up, even the instructor was nowhere to be found! This story always makes me laugh because this story so epitomizes my mother. I mean, like, where is the sun? | |

Didn't mean to scare you  They've been centered in San Ramon, small ones but MANY of them (aftershocks in the double digits). Depending on where you are you may not feel a thing (unless they get bigger, lol).
The freakiest thing about all these tremors: I can hear them 2 seconds before the shaking begins. :O I've never experienced that before, it's usually just out of the blue. Now I'm listening for them! Let's hope that they don't! I'll be in Fremont in about twelve hours, my house is about 4 minutes from the San Andreas fault line... ergh. My bf is going to be in Oakland, so I'll give him a heads-up on the tremors... Thanks for letting us know, Calhoun! I mean, like, where is the sun? | |

Eye use 2 live in the bay area and lived through the 89 earthquake, talk about some scary shit! So if eye was u eye wouldnt let those little tremors scare me. . I haven't felt anything here in SF. My home was built in 1907 - that's a lot of shake-n'-bake over the past 100 years, and the structure is still standing!
On the other hand, I spend a lot of time on the Bay Bridge...would you rather be on the upper or lower deck when '89 repeats itself? All that we can really do is try to be prepared. Have a survival plan for the "Big One." "When they tell me 2 walk a straight line, I put on crooked shoes" | |

seattle, a couple of years ago.
it was kind of cool for a about 15 seconds, then i started to get scared. (it went on for 45 seconds... i think it was only a 6.4 too.) bought insurance for my apt pretty soon after that. | |

I'm in Alameda and both Sunday's and Tuesday's quakes woke me up. I also remember '89's quake. Awful.

If theres one thing I don't miss about the Bay is them damn quakes! I just boogied out of Oakland just B4 the Big "89" Quake put a foot...I feel 4 y'all...B as well as U can B...I'll keep U Bay peeps in my prayers~ | |

Uhh, UPPER please??? :O Too scary to even think about. It's enough that the bridges have been targets for this terrorism shit, the tremors are making me nervous to be on it AT ALL. I remember during the '89 quake, I had a friend who lived so close to the Cypress freeway in Oakland, they could smell the bodies rotting (retrieving the bodies from under the concrete collapse took a week or two)... I always thought you were outside the us?  On the earthquake thing don't get me statred on those lol. We just had a 7.9, here in Alaska on Nov 3rd like a freight train rollin, a freight train rollin alright,  on bolders. no doubt. very odd feeling. Good lord.. lol...  | |

CalhounSq, as you probably already know, I grew up in Hawaii. I've felt many earthquakes.
The largest I felt registered 7.2 on the Richter scale, and I was inside a building while the "Up, Up with Music" singers were singing! Tiny shavings were coming from the ceiling, we all thought (for a moment) it was from the loud music!
Boring story, but just to assure you that after feeling so many - ranging from like 5-6 most of the time - it really isn't anything more than the earth doing what it does, a part of nature really - like a thunder or lightening storm.
It's all good!  for when you are scurred.
