Are you going to watch the motorcycle/truck jump tonight?

I sure am! I LOVE that stuff. Travis Pastrana's double backflip at the XGames is still the most amazing thing I have ever seen.

The truck backflip/motorcycle jump over the Arc de Triomph replica is on ESPN tonight.

Robbie Maddison says he was riding along a Los Angeles freeway when he began envisioning this stunt.

Says Maddison: "I saw a tall building and started thinking, 'If I got the right angle and the right speed, I bet I could land on top of that."

Which is precisely what he will attempt to do this New Year's Eve, again live on ESPN. Maddison will attempt to jump his bike 96 feet in the air and land on top of the replica of the Arc de Triomph at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, and then bomb drop 50 feet to a landing ramp below. In preparation, Maddison has spent six months working with mathematicians, engineers, stunt experts and a Hollywood stunt director, as well as ramp builders and fellow motocross riders, to help him pull off the jump as flawlessly, and as safely, as possible.

The location for Rhys Millen's much anticipated attempt to backflip an off-road truck at Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. has been confirmed. The flip will take place just before the clock strikes midnight (on the East Coast) on New Year's Eve at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, the exact location where Robbie Maddison broke the Guinness World Record for a motorcycle distance jump during the 2007 Red Bull New Year's Eve event. Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. will be televised live on ESPN/ESPN HD immediately following the Chick-Fil-A Bowl (approx. 11:00 p.m. ET / 8:00 p.m. PT).

Millen will attempt to become the first person to complete and land a backflip in an off-road truck. Set to take place at the Rio, Millen's flip demands the truck to travel a distance of 80 feet at a height of 50 feet. During his final practice before the 2007 Red Bull New Year's event, Millen overshot the landing, resulting in injury, damage to his vehicle and his withdrawal from the event.

Here is Pastrana's double backflip. This is SO COOL.

He is. Did you see the Robbie Maddison jump last night? Unreal. I'm trying to find video of it on YouTube or ESPN but no luck. Maybe it's on Red Bull's site. I'll look.

Anyway, Maddison jumped UP 110 feet (off a 50-foot ramp), and landed on the top of a building. Then he turned around and jumped OFF the building, barely catching his landing ramp.

I can't believe the guy did it.

If that doesn't work, go to www.expn.com and you'll find it.

Unreal.

The truck backflip was cool, but anti-climatic since he was so bummed about not driving away

...but the bike jump was THE SHIT!!! omfg I thought he was gonna blow it when he hit the ramp on the jump down...fun to watch!!
He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.
