PurpleJedi said: How'd I miss this thread before??? Well...since you're coming to NY, plan wisely. There's a million things to do & see in NYC alone, so planning (and a budget) are vital. You've gotten so many good suggestions already! In NYC, you have to hit a museum or two. The Metropolitan and the MOMA are my suggestions (since the kids aren't coming you can skip the Natural History Museum). Also, you should try to sample different eateries. We have just about every country in the world represented in a culinary sense in NYC. Being Hispanic myself, I can vouch for Cuban, Colombian, Puerto Rican, Mexican, and Dominican food as being the yummiest! Broadway shows, of course, are a staple for tourists. Personally, I'm not a big fan of them, but my wife dragged me to CHICAGO and I really enjoyed it. And you have to see the top of the Empire State building. It's actually a law now. If your passport doesn't show you having visited the Empire State building, you will be fined when leaving New York. Otherwise; BOSTON is a really nice place to visit. Small city, so you can tour it nicely in a day...see the birthplace of the American Revolution...if that kind of stuff interests you. PHILADELPHIA is also a nice day trip...see the Liberty Bell, and take a Duck tour (amphibious vehicle that drives you around town, then up & down the river). D.C. is nice because the major attractions are all free (Federally funded). The Cherry Blossoms festival is supposed to be nice...runs from March 28 to April 12 this year. ...and since you're going to the Grand Canyon, you might want to check the SKYWALK out; I've never been to the Grand Canyon, but when I do go, I'm definitely checking the Skywalk out! But most importantly...whilst you're in New York...will there be an Org invasion to celebrate your presence???? you'd think there would HAVE to be one! yes to empire state building we'll probably have to stick to sandwiches to afford this trip - I must say we are pretty lucky with cuisine here in Australia, most nationalities represented in Melbourne broadway we'll see what's on when we are there skywalk I'm SOOOO afraid of heights, I'm not sure I can do this one I nearly died doing this! however, for some reason, riding in a helicopter isn't scary to me, so we'll starve ourselves to afford a ride around the GC in one

If you are staying along the East side of the US and want to see nature, Western North Carolina is beautiful.....
Mach lives there and I have a second home there.... Perhaps ~at last~ the Charlotte's of the org will meet. "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive."

ZombieKitten said: you'd think there would HAVE to be one! yes to empire state building IMO, the Empire State Building is overrated. It's a lot of standing in line, then stairs, stand in line, elevator, stand in line. I hear the top of Rockefeller Center (Top of the Rock) is better/nicer. I also recommend the Staten Island Ferry for a free trip by the Statue of Liberty. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Like the Statue of Liberty. I haven't been to it, but yeah I heard that the top of Rockefeller Center is nice. Zombie...I guess that you'll have to do both!
