You gotta come to Chicago if you;re going to be in the USA, although you may not want to be there this time of year. It's extremely cold and full of snow most of the time, and all of the most interesting tourist attractions that make people want to flock here are closed down for the winter. (Though I guess you can still hit the museums and the Art Institute.)
And when do you plan on coming to Washington, DC? If you are coming anytime around January 20, 2009, then expect to be surrounded by millions of people coming in for Barack Obama's Presidential inauguration. If you do plan on traveling to the big cities, my recommendations are New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Miami. Some of the most incredibly beautiful people in the world can be found on South Beach in Miami, Florida.

( Bad areas.) but California is gigantic... each state should be viewed more as a Country by Europe standards. I know Australia is also quite spread out like here more so. So, if you come up with a list of offers, org them over and I'll let you know what youve got.

Driving through yellowstone national park in early april I couldn't believe the amount of snow that was there. everywhere the snow was up to the rooftops! in april! canada will be another trip another time for sure!

REDWOODS. FOREST. Pacific Ocean. Crescent City, Eureka, Ferndale, Fortuna area. All the way down to San luis Obispo. I love it. And of course! Seattle. Also hit White Sands, New Mexico. If you get the chance. Boyz2Men even filmed a video there back in the day. I've been there a few times. Your mind will.

Boston!
Ok, the scenery is not as grandiose as some of the places posted here, but still, it's rich in history [it's where it all started with the Founding Fathers, etc] Then as a Prince fan, I guess you'll have to visit Minneapolis:)

Ok, so if you're going to Yosemite, the best way to get there from LA is up the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway).
You'll get to go thru Big Sur, which is beautiful!

Yeah, forget tourist attractions. The memories are in the people. Visit your favorite orgers!
As a bonus, many of us live in cool places (Seattle, MPLS, Chicago, NYC, SF Bay Area. . . sorry, luvs, I can't bring myself to list LA as a 'cool place' ). "What's 'non-sequitur' mean? Do I look it up in a Fag-to-English dictionary?"

Since I only got 2–3 weeks, I will be doing NYC, grand canyon (via short stay in vegas) and san francisco and surrounds. I'll be visiting with as many of my faves as I can fit in

ZombieKitten said: what's worth seeing?
it's all worth seeing! it might be fun to do a road trip, like on iconic Route 66. or, along the west coast highway 101 you could book a journey on the Amtrak train which can take you to various places if you would prefer not to drive. or, you could pick a city and hang out there for a while. San Francisco is an excellent place, a good jumping off point. in april the weather will be pretty nice anywhere you go.

I looked up some tickets on Amtrak it was pretty expensive since it's 2 of us, the cheapest thing for us will be hiring a little car most probably.

How'd I miss this thread before??? Well...since you're coming to NY, plan wisely. There's a million things to do & see in NYC alone, so planning (and a budget) are vital. You've gotten so many good suggestions already! In NYC, you have to hit a museum or two. The Metropolitan and the MOMA are my suggestions (since the kids aren't coming you can skip the Natural History Museum). Also, you should try to sample different eateries. We have just about every country in the world represented in a culinary sense in NYC. Being Hispanic myself, I can vouch for Cuban, Colombian, Puerto Rican, Mexican, and Dominican food as being the yummiest! Broadway shows, of course, are a staple for tourists. Personally, I'm not a big fan of them, but my wife dragged me to CHICAGO and I really enjoyed it. And you have to see the top of the Empire State building. It's actually a law now. If your passport doesn't show you having visited the Empire State building, you will be fined when leaving New York. Otherwise; BOSTON is a really nice place to visit. Small city, so you can tour it nicely in a day...see the birthplace of the American Revolution...if that kind of stuff interests you. PHILADELPHIA is also a nice day trip...see the Liberty Bell, and take a Duck tour (amphibious vehicle that drives you around town, then up & down the river). D.C. is nice because the major attractions are all free (Federally funded). The Cherry Blossoms festival is supposed to be nice...runs from March 28 to April 12 this year. ...and since you're going to the Grand Canyon, you might want to check the SKYWALK out; I've never been to the Grand Canyon, but when I do go, I'm definitely checking the Skywalk out! But most importantly...whilst you're in New York...will there be an Org invasion to celebrate your presence???? By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!
