They've been saying that on the news for a few days. Saying he might be a "consultant." At least Jerry's thinking out the box. shrug

If Edgerrin James gets 85+ yards, and the O-line protects Warner, it's anyone's game.

You're getting confused between me and uPtoWnNY. Height is important, but it's not the end-all be-all IMO. Look at Steve Smith! Still, I think the Eagles desperately need a veteran #1 receiver -- someone who will make the tough catches and threaten the defense enough to game plan around him. I believe Jackson can be a #1, but I don't think he is right now. He's also a damned good punt returner, so I don't think they should take those duties away from him (for an example of how that can backfire, look what Chicago did with Devin Hester). If I were to name the best receivers right now, my list would include these guys (in no particular order):

R. Moss
T. Owens
S. Smith
L. Fitzgerald
A. Boldin
A. Johnson
B. Marshall
R. Wayne
P. Burress
W. Welker
T. Houshmanzadah
Calvin Johnson
G. Jennings
R. White
M. Colston

Not quite (IMO)
L. Evans
Santana Moss
L. Coles
D. Bowe

Fading
M. Harrison
T. Holt
H. Ward
D. Mason
Chad Johnson
D. Driver

The defense has been carrying the team and was the top D in the conference. Yes, there should be some tweaks, but I doubt they're going to blow the whole thing up. The linebackers were better this year, but there's still room for improvement. Another defensive end would also help.

So you get a DE and a LB in the first round. There will be plenty of WR's even though the Top Five will get all the attention.

Moss and Owens are overated
Ward is under rated.

Moss and Owens are overated

falloff On what planet? Here on earth, they rank 2nd (Owens 139) and 3rd (Moss 135) in career receiving touchdowns, 5th (Owens 14,122) and 9th (Moss 13,201) in career receiving yards, and 6th (Owens 951) and 15th (Moss 843) in career receptions.

Ward is under rated.

Eh, I'd say he's rated about where he should be. Tough, largely dependable, but running out of steam recently. FWIW, Ward, who came into the league with Moss and has played 15 games fewer than Owens, is 28th in receiving touchdowns (72), 34th in receiving yards (9,780), and 22nd in receptions (800).

Mike who? Not Tomlin -- he's from my neck of the woods.

I really don't care who wins; I just want to see a good game. I'm ready for the offseason to see what the Eagles do...

You sir are correct. I was thinking on Sweed & Mike. Tomlin grew up cowboys fan. I Typed Mike, but I should have typed Sweed.. Sweed is a Texan.

I certainly hope that this is a good game...I can't stand SB blowouts...having said that, the only reason I'm not solidly behind the Cards is because if they win, that makes my Saints lack of success that much more apparent....so fuck the Cards and Jesus behind center...

GO STEELERS!!! lurking

Reggie Wayne is only 6'0 tall, so he isn't that Owens/Moss/Burress prima donna jerk WR type. lol

Get someone else to do punt return duties. I guess you'll sleep on Jackson until he leaves and begins his Pro-Bowl days elsewhere.

I don't see a #1 WR as a pressing need for the Eagles. Doesn't hurt to upgrade the defense.
