I get it but isn't that the coach's job to develop? MOST of these guys were there under Parcells and IMO his coaching style did not encourage or nurture locker room leadership cuz he's the president and the king and functions largely by intimidation.

I kinda draw a parallel to how I strive to develop young troops into leaders...instead of trying to find or always wishing I had older or more seasoned guys (high priced free agents in the comparison), I scan my ranks and identify folks I think can be my eyes and ears on the ground...

...the coaches can try to develp that, but they also have to stand up to the powers that be to let these guys become the leaders on and off the field...

Giants won't be able to keep Ward and Jacobs, dammitt. Ward 's going the free agent route, but it would kill me seeing him on a hated division rival.

Y'all leave Jerry Jones alone, he's handling the Cowboys just right, like Danny-Boy Snyder. evillol

Ward would be a beast for the Eagles. That would pretty much be their answer to their red zone woes.

I'm hearing on the sports-talk shows Donovan McNabb is telling friends he's had it and wants out of Philly. If it's true, I don't blame him. That town's hated him since draft day. He should go home to Chicago - the Bears could him. smile

I think he should leave too, and go somewhere he'll really be appreciated. He's been nothing but class since day one and people in Philly keep shittin' on him.

Reggie Wayne is only 6'0 tall, so he isn't that Owens/Moss/Burress prima donna jerk WR type. lol

Get someone else to do punt return duties. I guess you'll sleep on Jackson until he leaves and begins his Pro-Bowl days elsewhere.

I don't see a #1 WR as a pressing need for the Eagles. Doesn't hurt to upgrade the defense.

You're getting confused between me and uPtoWnNY. Height is important, but it's not the end-all be-all IMO. Look at Steve Smith! Still, I think the Eagles desperately need a veteran #1 receiver -- someone who will make the tough catches and threaten the defense enough to game plan around him. I believe Jackson can be a #1, but I don't think he is right now. He's also a damned good punt returner, so I don't think they should take those duties away from him (for an example of how that can backfire, look what Chicago did with Devin Hester). If I were to name the best receivers right now, my list would include these guys (in no particular order):

R. Moss
T. Owens
S. Smith
L. Fitzgerald
A. Boldin
A. Johnson
B. Marshall
R. Wayne
P. Burress
W. Welker
T. Houshmanzadah
Calvin Johnson
G. Jennings
R. White
M. Colston

Not quite (IMO)
L. Evans
Santana Moss
L. Coles
D. Bowe

Fading
M. Harrison
T. Holt
H. Ward
D. Mason
Chad Johnson
D. Driver

The defense has been carrying the team and was the top D in the conference. Yes, there should be some tweaks, but I doubt they're going to blow the whole thing up. The linebackers were better this year, but there's still room for improvement. Another defensive end would also help.

So you get a DE and a LB in the first round. There will be plenty of WR's even though the Top Five will get all the attention.

Nope. Buckhalter is about the same size as Westbreezy. The Eagles need a big back that can bang on 3/4 & 1 and bang it in from the 1.

The receivers on the team (indeed, most of the offensive side) are pretty young. I still think they need to get a starting WR through free agency or a trade. I'm hoping for young defensive players and offensive linemen (specifically tackles) on draft day.

Buckhalter is almost certainly gone. The team has remained loyal to him through his 3 season-ending knee injuries, but they just don't use him enough. He's going to go somewhere he can play more.

Sounds like Boldin wants out of Arizona. I expect the Eagles and Giants to make a push for him.

Mutha's right - Eagles need a big power back to complement Westbrook. Jacobs would be a perfect fit, but the Giants are keeping him.

He'll do ANYTHING to stick it to Old-Ass Al.

I just heard on WFAN Dan Reeves wants to get back into coaching as the OC of the 49ers. Wild stuff.

Supposedly, Herm's done with coaching for good, and is going back home.

Damn, I forgot about that! Yeah, he WILL be trying to bank old Al's ass! lol

Reaves just wants to be in football anyway he can and should be a cool fit for Mike and the 9ers.

Herm's done? Nah, I think he's just saying that because it still stings right now and/or coaching has left a sour taste in his mouth.

Shit, Herm needs to go home. lol Or better yet he can come here so I can console his non-coaching ass.

But I want to make it clear, that his lackluster coaching performance in NO way diminishes the FACT that I would fuck the taste outta Herm's mouf and call him Daddy while I did it.
Just wanted to make that understood. thumbs up!
