I used to have all kinds of holes in my ears and my favorite was plain, small sliver hoops. I haven't worn any in years other than the silver hoop in my right tragus that I somehow never took out.

But I'm planning to buy myself a pair of these:

when I hit the 6-month smoke-free mark in February. I don't own any expensive jewelry at all. It's time I did.

oh, and I'll be getting conflict-free diamonds, of course.

I remember a few years ago that Dateline did a piece on diamonds and they found that it was almost impossible to buy conflict free diamonds. They bought several diamonds that were marketed by the seller as conflict-free even with certifications to that effect but when they analyzed the diamonds they did come from mines in war zones. I think they said your best bet was to get diamonds from Canada.

It is next to impossible to know for sure, yes, I've been researching online. But the certifications seem to have changed even in the last few years, so there's some hope.
And yes, Canadian seems the best bet, but even those are difficult to guarantee. But I'll jump through the hoops and pay a little more if I have to as I'll feel better about it.

For those of you who suffer from an allergic reaction to the nickle in jewelry (as I do), I recommend Simply Whispers.

http://simplywhispers.com/

I never have had trouble with having rashy, itchy, weepy, puffy red ears since I started wearing them. I have two holes in each earlobe, and I have never had a reaction to the Simply Whispers earrings.

My brother and sister-in-law bought me these really pretty silver earrings for Christmas, and I wore them over the weekend. Trouble is, they were not made by Simply Whispers, so you can guess what happened. Yup, both earlobs are itchy and rashy. Guess I will have to buy some cortisone cream to put on the rash, and to just not wear them anymore. It's ashame really, since they are very nice earrings.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

comfort When I was in junior high/high school I LOVED silver jewelry, had tons of it. I would ignore the rash to the point that my ears would scab and bleed. shake Even 14k gold and surgical steel do this to me, but I'll have to check out this company. Thanks! thumbs up!

You're welcome. The rashes can be horrible, and the itching can drive you crazy.

You can do both.
Just remember:
-Big earrings, skip the necklace (or keep it simple).
-Dainty earrings, go bold on the necklace or collar.

I always wore a ton of heavy costume jewelry so I never pierced my ears. ( I didnt want nasty stretched out or torn looking holes) I finally pierced my ears and my mother bought me the most darling gold half hoop earrings with loads of little diamonds. I love them!

I love cubic zerconias or diamond studs. I try to wear big hoops or larger ones but the weight hurts too much.
