They do all of the same things. Target pays its people minimum wage. They give raises of about .25 per year. Without a college degree, you will never make it past 10.50 at Target. Targets goods are cheap crap similar to the garbage they have at Walmart. They talk about how they have strict hiring standards to avoid hiring illegal immigrants. Not true, because they subcontract the cleaning of the stores to organizations that hire illegal immigrants. I could go on and on and on..... I work for Target, I don't have a degree and I make a HECK of a lot more than $10.50 an hour. I couldn't live on that. I can tell you, Target does well by NOT emulating WalMart, but differentiating itself from them. And that's all I'm gonna say about that. |

CARRIE not to be NOSY but you must be a MANAGER or SOMETHING cause I don't BELIEVE TARGET is going to pay ALOT of MONEY to ANYONE. The pay MINIMUM wage. Most stores DO PAY CASHIERS or SALESPEOPLE MINIMUM WAGE and YES, you CANNOT LIVE on THAT! Not with CHILDREN,CARS, APARTMENTS, FOOD... | |

I don't work in a store... I work in IT in their headquarters. It's one of the best employers in the state we are continually named at or near the top of many US lists like best company to jumpstart a career in, best company to intern for, best company for minorities, best company for working mothers, etc. etc. |

I should have prefaced my post by talking about those within the stores. You obviously have a skill that can demand a higher wage. It is nice to see that you have bought into the Target propaganda hook line and sinker. I am surprised that Target doesn't change its slogan to "Hey, We're Not Walmart!" Sure, maybe they have wider aisles and signs at the end of each aisle that give a general idea as to what is there, but Target has two key aspects that make it Wal-Mart Junior: A majority of its workers are treated poorly and the stuff that they sell there is complete crap. I abdicated the throne in Ithaca, but now I am...

That's a big assertion, got any sources to back that up? I'm not being cheeky, I'm honestly interested in where you're getting the info. I've sampled the kool-aid, I admit, but I can look at it objectively too. As for what Target sells being crap, I'd have to disagree, but that's just a matter of opinion. |
