How did you interpret this excellent movie?

I recall liking it, but I've forgotten all the plot points. The soundtrack is cool though.

Good movie over all. Not a classic by any account ... but worth seeing if you like movies with an edge.

I caught clues early on that turned out to be what he was actually experiencing.

Again... good movie... but not special.

I also took an instant dislike to it becuz I do not think perfect pictures should be remade.

I remember liking it at the time, but in retrospect I can't remember for the life of me what it was about... neutral

I've never seen the original.
But I remember being completely put off by a remake.

In this case it was Cruise that put me off of it BIG time.

I mean, even though I dislike MOST his movies, there are a few I enjoy watching, like Minority Report and The Color Of Money and he did decent jobs in Rain Man, The Firm and Magnolia.

And I am very cruious if he can work the eye-patch in Valkyrie, which is to some interest to me because of the supporting cast; some great names (Branagh, Nighy, Izzard, van Houten AND Reijn)

I know, the eye patch looks ridiculous.

I am not saying it IS, I am saying it MIGHT. I wanna see him play this character and see if he can give it some soul.

Right now I am still thinking

and a little

Maybe he will ROCK the patch. I certainly hope so. I wanna believe he and van Houten are HOT on stage. She is one of the most interesting actresses we have, as is Reijn.

Only the original shows Penelope Cruz NAKED!

Why should I watch the Hollywood remake with Tom Cruise?

the only reason this was remade was a vanity project for tom cruise. i liked the original.

though it would not be one of my fav movies.

As a pointless remake of a much better original film that had a much hotter lead star. Vanilla Sky wasn't bad, but it didn't add anything new either. It was like that shot-for-shot remake of Psycho. Why bother?

Kind of a problem when you don't speak Spanish....
And come on, Tom Cruise looked good in that movie. Way better than the other dude.

It's funny, because from "Risky Business" onwards, Tom Cruise is a great actor in my opinion. I just saw some of "Color of Money" and I have also seen "Valkyrie" and he is great in both. I would like to see the original movie of "Vanilla Sky", but I did enjoy this scifi Philip Dick genre Hollywood remake. The director is not bad... although having people sing along in "Almost Famous" to "Tiny Dancer" is too much for me to handle.
