Guitar Strings There aren't any in Angel Fire, New Mexico. That's because there are no music stoers in Angel Fire. This wouldn't be a big deal except I opened up my guitar case this morning and someone had broken my D string.
Now I have a five-string guitar, which is useless. My options are: (1) find a musician here in Angel Fire and try to buy some strings off him; or (2) get some replacements at Wal-Mart in Taos. Yes, as funky as Taos is, it does not have a music store, either. I don't mind if people play my guitar, but if they break something, they should have told me. I could have brought strings up from Houston. I am not happy, but if this is my biggest problem, then it's all good.

If it wasn't for the fact that all musicians are broke, and pretty much everyone under 30 in Taos lives on the street, I'd open up a music store there.

'why y'all trying to say goodbye? I didn't go anywhere, I'm right here, im all around you,always..'
in a line from my dream, I heard a voice and saw a silhouette in a chair..

a 5 string guitar is far from useless. work with it & see if you can come up with some interesting music.

ROCK AND ROLL!!!!! just look up and call a local tone studio in Taos and ask them for string dealer/supplier reccomendations. It's been waaay too many records done in that neck of the woods for folks in the localmusic community there to not know something

As soon as this storm passes, I'm driving down to Taos. It's just not feasible to think nowhere in Taos (other than Wal-Mart) can one buy strings.

Useless you say?... ...Ask "Keef" about that. 3rd pic is his custom made Zemaitis 5-string. A lot of Classic Rock was done on 5 strings (and open G tuning). ...Honky Tonk Women ...You Can't Always Get What You Want ...Start Me Up ...Tumbling Dice ...Happy ...Take It So Hard Love his statement at the end of this one... ..."5 strings, 3 notes, 2 fingers and 1 asshole, there it is you know." Next time, bust the low "E" string. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Northern New Mexico. It's about 2 hours north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. It's probably the funkiest town I know of. Hippies, artists and various vagabonds share the town with rich New Mexicans, Texans and Californians. A few movie stars live there - most notably Julia Roberts. We have a house in Angel Fire, New Mexico which is 25 miles from Taos. However, those 25 miles are straight through the mountains. I love northern New Mexico.

theAudience said: LOL, EXACTLY! Well, I was jamming with 5 strings anyway, but I just busted my G string. Now I'm down to four, but they're the top 2 and the bottom 2! So I gotta play low rock or high funk. My father-in-law doesn't much like my guitar playing any way, so you can guess how thrilled he is with that, LOL.

Dang, we're snowed in. We have the only level driveway on the whole mountain, and even WE can't get out. We have a four-wheel drive Suburban, and STILL couldn't get ten feet past the garage.
This is a job for Mr. Plow.
