I live with my boyfriend. If you read last week's discouraged thread, we're waiting to close on a house...if the economy had not been in the crapper we'd have a house for x-mas.

But we don't.


I have really not had very BAD childhood x-mases, but boyfriend has. Plus, at age 20 he lost his step brother to domestic violence during the holidays. Needless to say, he was looking forward to actually being happy again during the holdays, but as you know, it will not be happening. When we first started dating, I remember he would go to his Grandma's, eat, get some gifts, and then come home and sleep the rest of the day away.

It's hard for me. Nothing bad like that has happened to me during the holidays, and I wasn't a kid from a broken home like his. But with this house not coming through when we wanted it to, I'm starting to let his attitude get to me.

I'm making him go out to dinner Christmas Day and I think I'm going to make him hit a nightclub too. It feels bad that he is so glum during this season! He has better holidays now that we're together, what else can you do?
