The word "Stepchild" I never liked that word, I have gained 3 beautiful young ladies who I introduce them as my daughters to people. sp people if you have gained children from previous relationships. And you love them like they are your own the word "Step" should not be in the vocabulary. [Edited 12/21/08 9:19am]

I'm not a fan of it either, I refer to Rosie and Mari as my daughters and children. I usually say yours or mine when talking to Erin, just to keep track cause we have 4 of the little shits.

I don't like the word esp. because my "step mom" became my mom when I was about a year old...But with that said, it was obvious that I was the "step child." In my early 20's be4 she passed she apologized 4 a lot of things. In hindsight, it was one of the things that I had in common with that Prince of the 80's. I was short, had the handsome older brother, spent time in foster homes...So back 2 the question at hand---step child, do I like it? I think it depends on the child in a way. If he or she is close with their biological parent, they may prefer to be called "step." Me, I wish they would have said step son because I got stepped on all the dang time...But it made me stronger

I use "bonus boys" when I am talking to someone..because they were the bonus in marrying their father!! Most of the time I just say 'my sons', but they don't live here, so people get confused.

When you truly have a 'family', there are no 'step'-anythings.
